Utilizing evidence-based practices, I have extensive experience treating depression, anxiety, panic, personality disorders, trauma, anger, self-harming behavior, and adjustment distress.
We all have the need to feel supported and understood. Therapy should be constructive and transformative, as well as serve as an important, set aside time for self-care. We know how far the physical environment goes towards making you feel comfortable, and have a positive experience. No one wants the stress of a hectic waiting area before your session, and we have built a comfortable environment to make your therapy appointments feel like a weekly getaway from the hustle and bustle of New York City.

Wherever you are on your path, I am here to meet and walk with you. I have had the opportunity to work with children, adolescents, and adults as they navigate grief, anxiety, OCD, trauma, ADHD, depression, body image issues, eating disorders, sexuality and gender, and life transitions. Healing can look and feel differently for everyone, which is why I prioritize a kind, calm, and supportive space for you to explore what your healing looks like. My goal is to help you become the best version of yourself, with support and no judgement. Change is possible.

Learning to accept yourself as you are is an important part of growth and healing. In our work together, I will listen and support you, in gaining new insights on what you are experiencing in your day to day. Past trauma and current difficult circumstances do not define you. You are a unique person. Therapy is a place where you can reflect on your lived experiences with dignity, and find inner courage that empowers you to continue on.

As a culturally-sensitive and empathetic therapist, I integrate various approaches including faith-based, person-centered, attachment, cognitive- behavioral, solution-focused, and strength-based therapies.
Discovering your own story is one of the most courageous steps you can take. Therapy isn't about quick fixes; it's a journey that requires time, commitment, and the bravery to face your truths. It involves confronting your past, understanding your present, and embracing your emotions along the way. Committing to growth means rediscovering yourself and finding the strength to heal and move forward. Together, we’ll explore these emotions, develop healthy coping skills, and foster self-love and acceptance. Embracing this journey will build resilience, leading you to a healthier mindset and a more fulfilling life.

Together, we can understand and learn how to better manage the barriers that present themselves and that can get in the way of you attaining the quality of life you deserve.

Behavioral Issues Therapists

What happens in therapy for behavioral issues?

No matter the type of therapy, individuals form an alliance with the therapist; that connection is often therapeutic in itself, plus it becomes an instrument of change. Individuals learn to identify situations that are especially troublesome for them and acquire new patterns of thinking and behaving. In therapy for ADHD, one of the most common behavior issues for children, individuals learn how to improve frustration tolerance, control impulsivity, manage attentional focus, and gain skills of self-organisation.

What therapy types help with behavioral issues?

Many types of therapy have been found effective, each targeting one or more areas of dysfunction. Perhaps best-known and most widely tested is cognitive and behavioral therapy (CBT), in which individuals learn new behavioral strategies and curb reactivity to frustrating or distressing situations that trigger disruptive behaviour. Anger, anxiety, mood disorders, impulse control problems are commonly addressed in CBT. Family therapy or parent management training is often helpful to reduce parent-child conflict and behavioral difficulties at home.

How long does therapy last for behavioral issues?

Among popular approaches to treating behavioral concerns, CBT is considered a short-term therapy intended to be administered in 15 to 20 weekly sessions. Parent training in behavior management, often used when the underlying cause of behavior issues is ADHD in children under 12, usually occurs in weekly sessions for 8 to 16 weeks. When behavioral issues stem from persistent aggression or defiance, therapy may last for months, and usually targets both children and their parents.

How effective is therapy for behavior issues?

Studies show that therapy for behavior issues in children is highly effective and may prevent the development of antisocial behavior later in life. Family intervention—parent management training or family therapy, both of which involve parents and children together—is considered most effective, notably for children under age 12 who persistently engage in aggressive, defiant, rule-breaking or other disruptive behavior. Whether provided alone or in combination with medication, CBT is highly effective in helping people regulate their emotions, and for people with ADHD, it addresses impulsiveness, hyperactivity and attentional focus.
