I like to think I have a unique skill set coupled with life experience that equips me to be a dynamic therapist. I served as a Marine in the military, spent 20 years working in the pathology field looking at healing the body and now work with clients from 5 years to older adult healing the mind. Therapy is difficult to navigate and can feel messy for the whole system (friends, family, work, school, and more). I value your experience and how that has shaped core beliefs. Because we have these core beliefs, doesn't make them true. Let's assign new rules to these beliefs and heal the system as a whole both in body and mind.

I have over 20 years’ experience with adoptive families, children, and attachment. I am passionate about helping family, parents, and children navigate BIG changes in healthy ways. I understand first hand, being a parent of 6 beautiful adopted children myself, the challenges, emotions, fears, and successes that can come up along the way. I am skilled in attachment & view this as critical to understanding how people develop and navigate relationships. I consider myself an expert in Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder and can spot these symptoms and behaviors in both children and adults. Early intervention is KEY to successful outcomes.

For many years my clients have primarily been individuals, groups, and families coming out of abusive and sometimes violent relationships and addiction. Although that was the original primary focus, most of them also struggled with other accompanying factors like depression, anxiety and other serious mental health diagnoses. My clinical focus has recently shifted to more of a community-based population. I have found this work incredibly rewarding. I enjoy working with additional needs such as grief, prenatal, postpartum depression, and abandonment trauma to name a few.

Hello! My name is Michelle. I am a wife, outdoor enthusiast, mother (human and furbabies) and an imperfect human. Emberlynn (golden retriever) and Ella (black lab) can sometimes be found at the office for sessions. I have the best job in the world. It is an immense privilege to help people carry the heavy burden of being a human. I offer professional and lived experience with eating disorders, anxiety and mood disorders. I utilize most of the skills that I teach my clients regularly. I attend as many trainings as I can. My goal is to be who I did not have when I was younger for my clients.

My hope for you is increased happiness, peace and coping. I honor the courage it takes to engage in talk therapy. I have been a licensed counselor (LPC) for over 30 years and I enjoy helping others. I am a licensed mental health professional with over 11 years of clinical experience. My professional background is in Clinical Psychology with a Client-Centered focus. Client-Centered Counseling is a manner of being or an attitudinal approach that believes that positive change in people occurs in a therapeutic relationship with another person (a helper or a therapist) in which the helper provides unconditional positive regard, genuineness and empathy toward the client or patient. During my career, I have worked with all types of issues and in various stages of one’s life path.I am Looking forward to helping you.

At Wholistic Health, we have multiple clinicians available to accommodate your needs. Specifically, we provide EMDR therapy which is helpful when a person is feeling “stuck” on a particular emotion or traumatic memory, as well as play therapy for kids and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) or CBT for adults. DBT is focused on helping those who struggle with suicidal thoughts or feel like their emotions are in control of them.

I would see mid teens to late twenties. The primary issue would be trauma. Some goals to have would be behavior change and challenging unhelpful thoughts. The idea behind this would be to decrease the impact that the trauma is inflicting by increasing the individuals sense of control over their life.

Life often throws curve balls at us, leaving us without direction, hurting, and unsure of ourselves as well as the world around us. In that time, we find ourselves behaving and feeling ways that are not true reflections of who we are. Things from our past can really haunt us if we don't process them. My ideal client wants to process what they have been through and make changes for their future selves.

My goal in practicing is to provide a therapeutic relationship focused on compassion, dignity, respect, and unconditional positive regard. I focus on meeting clients where they are, without judgement, while collaborating with individuals and families to meet their goals. I work with adolescents and adults. Prior to Waters Edge Counseling, I worked in community mental health.

We go to a medical doctor when we are ill and to the dentist when we have a toothache, as well as regular check-ups when we are not ill or in pain. So why not see a mental health professional when life becomes stressful or when faced with a problem? Why not go in for a regular checkup as well? We go through several stages in life, such as marriage, parenthood, and retirement. We are faced with new obstacles at each stage. As a mental health professional, I can assist you in navigating these new stages and obstacles.

I started my journey to provide counseling, in hopes of helping those who wanted to make changes, but just couldn't quite put the pieces together. Those who felt that there could be a light at the end of the tunnel, but were stuck in the darkness of their own thoughts. With a little guidance and support, one day they could reach that light and learn how to live again.

My ideal client is struggling with accessing the answers to their discontent. They need a safe environment without fear of judgment, an environment that fosters self acceptance and growth. Their goals are to feel significant, valid, contributory, and in control of their thoughts and feelings. They want relief from their discontent in order have personal growth.

Tierney graduated from the University of Central Arkansas with her Masters in Mental Health Counseling. Tierney has been working in Mental Health in a variety of settings including private practice, inpatient/PHP/IOP, University Counseling Centers, and short-term virtual mental health programming. Tierney as a practitioner sees herself as passionate about the patient/therapist alliance. She feels this is one of the most important factors in patient progress and healing, “We are co-pilots on this journey, I am not working for you, I am working with you”.

I am a person-centered therapist focused on meeting my clients as they are with unconditional positive regard and active listening. As your counselor, my job is to meet you just as you are.
