My approach is to come alongside clients to cultivate insight on current patterns, uncover roots of the problem, empower with tools, and foster an environment for holistic growth in line with client goals. I enjoy working with children, teens, and adults through a variety of concerns such as anxiety, depression, grief and loss, identity, life transitions, with special interest in all types of trauma including relational hurts, and spiritual wounds. Client often ask to bring in EMDR, especially for stuck places. I am also able to include integrating a Christian worldview in the counseling process for those who desire.

I have over a decade of knowledge as a research investigator in psychology to assist in your counseling journey through experiences. I approach the human condition as if we contain natural resources, yet to be mined, to achieve full potential in life and relationships. There’s optimism in human nature and it contains hope to aspire towards greater self-understanding. Once a person becomes more self-aware of his/her behavior, it’s possible to change or adapt for the better.

My ultimate goal is to provide a safe place to process life's difficult moments. I have clinical experience working with couples, teenagers, and individuals struggling with anxiety, depression, relationship conflicts, and trauma. I aim to give clients hope while being empathetic and helping clients move forward.

I have been in practice for twenty five years. I love what I do ; I have a passion for the healing of marriages,trauma, depression, anxiety. I am commited to working with/beside my clients as they seek to move forward in their lives. For marriage counseling, I offer larger blocks of time to allow for each indivual to be fully heard. Within these blocks of time for marriage counseling ,we address such issues as; accumulated resentments, past hurts, childhood wounds that are affecting the present day adult relationship, and resolving conflict in a kind, respectful way.

So many people bombard us with cliches like “Life is what you make it” or “when life gives you lemons, make lemonade,” when the unexpected happens or we lose control of situations and ourselves. Not only does this usually make us feel worse and/or not heard, we usually do not know what those sayings even mean. I’m sure people typically mean well when using these phrases, however, we need practical remedies to the “cards we were dealt” in our personal lives. It’s rare that the average person listens to us, validates us, AND helps us process what’s happening so that we can wholeheartedly move on.

During my own personal journey in seeking a therapist, I found it difficult to connect with a counselor in whom I felt safe to tell my most personal concerns. Finding the right help didn't come easy. So, after 25 years in the medical profession, I answered a heart felt calling to provide the counseling I had long searched for. Even with all of the wonderful theories I learned and now practice, the most important element in counseling is the trust relationship between the therapist and the client.
