My approach to psychotherapy is the time-honored psychoanalytic method, which seeks understanding and resolution of the deep-rooted, underlying issues contributing to emotional distress. I have experience working with a range of conditions, including mood and anxiety disorders, psychosomatic illness, and personality disorder. I have particular interest in the psychotherapy of schizophrenia and working with individuals who have not previously, or only partially, responded to treatment. In addition to my private work, I hold faculty appointments in psychiatry at the University of Central Florida and Tufts Medical School.
I received my academic and clinical training at the University of Pittsburgh and its affiliated psychiatric hospital, where I have also worked on staff, and completed additional postgraduate training in psychoanalytic psychotherapy. I am actively involved in the didactic teaching and supervision of psychiatry trainees.
