I view "issues" and "problems" as external from the individual and the problem at hand is comprised of many different factors that require different types of interventions. Therefore, my approach is to motivate my clients to start addressing each factor based on their own needs and goals.

I have experience working with issues such as domestic violence, trauma, parenting, life transitions, addictions, anxiety, depression, and coping with mental illness. While I employ a variety of interventions, my understanding is that there are universal elements in my approach to therapy. First, the relationship between the client and the therapist would be a crucial focus of therapy. Second, there is an emphasis on the here and now, but he would never neglect someone's personal history, especially if they are affecting the present. Thirdly, goal setting would be a crucial part of therapy.

As a clinical and forensic psychologist Dr. Yount has conducted hundreds of evaluations, worked with various ages across many settings: outpatient, inpatient, professional athletes, college students, etc. We now have a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) on staff who provides ABA therapy for children ages 2 to 8 years old for early intervention. We are not presently accepting clients for mental health counseling.
