I have more than 37 years of clinical experience in the fields of adults, geriatrics, psychiatry, health and physical rehabilitation, and clinical social work. I am also certified by the Academy of Certified Social Workers and hold advanced certification in hospice and palliative social work.

People often take a long time to make the decision to enter treatment, and are not sure what to expect when they get here. What you will find is a relaxed, judgement-free zone where we can explore and work through what you want to change about your life. I have many years of experience with those managing serious mental health issues as well as those facing unusual life challenges. My many years of both clinical and graduate level teaching experience have taught me that there is no "one-size-fits-all" solution for any of my clients. Hello, my name is Kristen and my practice is called Healthy Habits Counseling Orlando. I love helping individuals, couples and families to find their best self! Whether that may be a sober individual, someone who is finally free from depression or anxiety, or a couple who aims to grow their marriage. I work with all ages but I especially love working with high school and college-aged individuals. I offer Cognitive Behavioral therapy, EMDR, and many other kinds of therapies to tailor to the specific needs of each individual client. I also offer religion-based treatments such as Christian counseling.

I’ve worked with children and adolescents in a variety of settings for over 20 years. My counseling practice focuses on helping clients work through the issues that prevent them from participating fully in daily living. I use “top down” approaches like Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) and Dialectic Behavioral Therapy (DBT) along with “bottom up” approaches like biofeedback that work to regulate emotion using the body and breath. I have a strong emphasis on self compassion because I have found that young people who struggle can be very critical of themselves. I work to validate their feelings and normalize their struggles.

I offer individual counseling as well as group psychotherapy dealing with issues ranging from deep depression and anxiety to improving relationships and communication. The stress and anxiety of making life transitions, like from high school to college or college to the workforce, can be daunting. I help people dealing with depression, anxiety, anger, and substance abuse issues to actively address their concerns and improve their lives.

Robert Abraham Fay (Brahm) grew up in Central Florida, and attended primary, secondary, and grad school in the same location. He has worked around the world on social justice issues. Brahm knows that life can be difficult, and and he also knows how bearable things can be when we have a trusted confidant in which we can deposit precious information. Brahm likes to be actively engaged in the therapeutic process without being pushy or scripted. We all want answers. Brahm likes to play chess, ride his bike, and volunteer.

I consider mental health counseling a profession in which my clients come to me because they feel stuck and want to change.
