My name is Janie Thompson, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Dalton, Georgia working statewide via telehealth. I work with adolescents and adults with an array of issues such as but not limited to anxiety, depression, ADHD, mood disorders using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy along with an eclectic approach to other modalities. My style and approach have been a good fit for teens, young adults, and older adults. Those who are dealing with anxiety, depression, trauma, parenting issues, marital issues, self-esteem, Autism, PTSD, Relationship issues, LGBTQ, and life transitional issues.

I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who enjoys working with families of teenagers. I also work with individuals and greatly appreciate the opportunity to help others. Before becoming a therapist, I was an educator for 11 years and specialized in prenatal through age 5. I typically work with teenagers and anxiety. I also provide group, couples, and family counseling. Although I do not have any specialization certificates, I like to work with grief and trauma (mostly sexual trauma).

I've been working with adolescents and their parents for nearly 40 years. I have enjoyed helping families navigate the adolescent experience dealing with issues of parenting practices, adolescent self esteem and social development and issues of sexuality and sexual identity.
