I believe nature can play a principal role with KAP in helping individuals break free from old thought patterns that may have them trapped in depression, anxiety, trauma, and/or addiction.
As a ketamine-assisted psychotherapist at Asheville Integrative Psychiatry, my professional journey has been deeply influenced by a commitment to holistic healing and the integration of diverse therapeutic modalities. My approach to therapy is grounded in the principles of person-centered therapy, mindfulness, and nature-based interventions. By fostering a safe and compassionate space, I aim to create an environment where individuals can explore their inner landscapes with authenticity and curiosity. I believe every human has the capacity to access their inner healing intelligence and achieve wellness by gaining new perspectives.

I have over a decade of experience helping people with anxiety, depression, relationships, anger, professional/job-related matters, and family conflict to name a few.
Finding a therapist with whom you feel comfortable and safe can be a challenge. I listen attentively and non-judgmentally to carefully understand the difficulty you are experiencing, and help cultivate a deeper understanding of yourself and the origin of your depleting, recurring problems. Understanding how past experiences influence your current difficulties is an important aspect of psychotherapy. I strive to offer meaningful and practical suggestions for change, which can lead to freedom from feeling stuck, and a much deeper enjoyment of life and relationships.

I have experience working with adults & adolescents with concerns such as depression, anxiety, relationship problems, mood & personality disorders, confidence/self-esteem, trauma, grief/loss, & substance/alcohol abuse.
Compassion is a basic human need that often goes unfulfilled. When we don’t get it from others, it’s no wonder we are our own toughest critic. We refer to ourselves in harsh terms we would likely not use with friends and family. We feel stuck, alone, hopeless. Reaching out for help is hard, but continuing the emotional suffering is even harder. My clients have described me as approachable, compassionate, & non-judgmental. My goal is to help you explore & process unhealthy patterns of thinking and behavior while learning new healthy ways to regulate your emotions, communicate with others, & to stand firm in your decision-making.

I’m at my best working with issues of trauma, depression and anxiety, unhelpful and addictive behaviors, family issues, parenting, and life transitions.
To move through suffering and risk hope of something better takes such courage. My work finds its foundation in a deep respect for that choice. I meet my clients’ courage by welcoming all parts of them- their overwhelm, strengths, grief, hopes, and fears. That welcoming manifests in my curiosity, care, and genuine empathy for your experience. My grounded presence, calm yet playful demeanor, clarity of thought, and feedback-informed approach have helped folks safely share their inner world. That safety can be deeply healing, and through it I've witnessed my clients move from simply surviving to living a life of vitality and meaning.

Anxiety Therapists

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?

Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?

The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?

Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?

Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
