Pornography addiction can significantly impact your life and relationships but there is hope for recovery. I’m not just a mental health professional, I’ve been “you” for many years. I understand firsthand the personal struggles in your life and committed relationships that come with uncontrollable pornography use. The endless stream of attractive women a few clicks away on Pornhub, Onlyfan or Social Media is hard to quit even with all your willpower and promise to quit for the sake of your relationship

Kyle approaches counseling with warmth and respectful curiosity. He enjoys connecting with people and is enthusiastic, but he balances this with a gentle demeanor and situation-responsive solemnity. With humanistic and relational-cultural foundations, Kyle incorporates evidence-informed strategies from several modalities based on each person's experiences. He appreciates the counseling relationship as a mechanism itself, emotion as a source of information and therapeutic process, and collaborative constructions of meaning and insight that mobilize strengths.

As of mid-May, I have openings for new clients. I'm a practical, easygoing, and results-oriented therapist. We work in collaboration as partners, combining your goals with my research-proven techniques. These techniques include CBT, traditional talk therapy, a focus on improving SENS factors (sleep/exercise/nutrition/social), and others, always applied holistically and non-dogmatically. I do particularly well with issues that therapy has thus far failed to resolve. While traditional therapy focuses on exploring and understanding your issues, I make sure we take action, see real change, and prevent backsliding.

Call me, send me a message, or book with me by clicking on my website. / / Prior to working as a counselor, I worked in a demanding industry and understand the stresses that come with working a high-pressure job. I understand the importance of maintaining “work-life harmony” between family life, recreation, health, faith, and time on the job. These are the timbers, or beams, on which we build each layer of our lives. No person is an island and I believe in helping people build their natural support systems, which include family, friends, teammates, and colleagues to name a few.

Many times we navigate through the world feeling lost, alone, and even scared. We may tell ourselves that "nobody understands me," "nobody loves me," or "people have it much worst than I do, so why do I deserve to be kind to myself." Many of us tell ourselves some sort of variation of these things from time to time. Some of us may tell ourselves these statements on the daily basis. Come join me as we explore your relationship with yourself as well as your relationship with others.

I specialize in working with adolescents and young adults. As a former high school coach and counselor, I provide a unique approach that is both authentic and encouraging in nature. I work best with clients that are open-minded and adaptable as well as introspective and contemplative. Sense of humor plays an essential role in developing the rapport I have with my clients. Once that is established, I make sure to carefully listen to each individual's unique story, assist in planning ahead for challenges, channel strengths, and collaboratively track progress together.

Male Therapists

As a man, why might I want to see a male therapist?

There are many reasons a man might wish to work with a male therapist, including a degree of shared identity, which may help client and therapist connect to each other and allow for a more free-flowing discussion of issues that can be deeply personal. Some men may feel more comfortable talking to a male therapist about relationship concerns, the pressures they feel around the roles society and family place on men, career or job challenges, self-esteem, or anger problems. For some men who have not had a male role models in their lives, a good male therapist may be especially helpful.

How can I find out about a therapist’s experience treating men?

Individuals looking for treatment should feel comfortable directly asking a therapist about their history treating men overall and the issues that arise in therapy with men. A good therapist will be happy to discuss such matters as well as their educational background, approach to treatment, and how they think they can aid a prospective client. Prospective clients should also ask what the expectation is for treatment, and what the fee structure is, and whether and which insurance plans are accepted.

Can clients benefit from having a therapist of the same gender?

Therapy is not gender-specific, but some men as well as women feel more comfortable opening up about their experiences and history with a male therapist. An individual may feel that they have to explain less background information and be on the same page more quickly, particularly when discussing gender-specific challenges, in the case of male clients. Some women have prior negative experiences with women that predispose them to prefer working with a male in therapy. That said, a good clinician can transcend most if not all gender concerns. Ultimately, the most important factor in therapy is the connection and trust the client is able to build with the practitioner.

Would a male therapist have specific training in treating men?

Generally, no. There are no certifications for treating men specifically, but there are continuing education classes that therapists may take that focus on treating men as a group. There are many therapists who focus on men and male issues in their treatment and therefore have experience and expertise in this domain.
