Hello everyone, please welcome and allow me to first begin in thanking you. The choice to start therapy isn’t always easy, sometimes it is the most difficult thing to do is to even consider it, then admit you want/need it before even taking the steps to start, but you are not alone on this journey. Perhaps there has been times that you have found yourself feeling stressed, down, lacking confidence, or stuck in a pattern that no longer serves you. Perhaps you’re ready to take steps toward changes but feel stuck or unsure where to start. Or even feeling lost in your relationships in life or even disconnected from them.

In the first session, we’ll establish clear goals for what you’d like to focus on and begin creating the road map for doing so. The trajectory of the deeper work reflects the needs of each individual; I feel that my job is to listen to you and provide what you need in the moment, whether it’s a kind ear, more direct guidance, or both. I am always looking to stay current on contemporary perspectives and approaches in clinical practice, particularly in regard to changing views on trauma, women’s experiences, and the mental health of marginalized communities.

There are many things in our lives that we can’t control which can lead to mismanaged expectations, anxiety and general unhappiness. However, if we can learn to accept what we can’t change while finding our power, direction and motivation to control what we can change, we can find a better sense of peace. My role as a counselor is to provide a safe, non-judgmental space to explore the many intricate complexities of your life and mental health and help you develop coping skills. I am a hands on, person-centered counselor who enjoys working with individuals of all ages to navigate life’s challenges.

Are you just surviving life, going with the motions, unhappy, unsatisfied, feeling like unused potential. You feel stuck, your career isn’t where you want it to be and your romantic life is always unstable. Then you remember the traumas of your life, thoughts of those deep issues, you know the ones that go back to childhood. Those issues that have gotten worse over years, that you pretend don’t affect you but you know they do. Emotionally unavailable parents, abuse, rape, unstable chaotic childhood environment, raising yourself and your siblings. They have left you numb, guarded, defensive, mistrusting, anxious and triggered.

I am passionate about changing the way we view grief. I believe that grief is not simply a symptom that needs to be treated, but rather an ongoing process, unique for every individual and is outside of the boundaries of a specific timeline or progression. I believe in taking a mindful and collaborative approach to help my clients work both through and with the many emotions and the reactions they may experience related to their grief and loss. I view each individual holistically, factoring in mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual aspects throughout the healing process.

How can I find a therapist in 11379?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

What type of therapist is right for me?

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
