I approach each individual with empathy, curiosity, and acceptance, inviting my clients to explore their emotions and struggles in a safe space. I have supported clients to identify and set boundaries, honor their needs, improve communication, and unlock their innate capabilities. I'm here to offer empathy, support, and guidance as we explore your problems and work together to find solutions. I take my cues from my clients, but maintain a focus on stated goals, and can help give structure to our sessions.

In my experience, DBT, CBT, ACT, SFT and Motivational Interviewing have proven to be successful among my clients.
My professional view of counseling is that it is a journey of self exploration by the client, using therapy as a guide to self understanding & self awareness. I, as a marriage and family therapist, use the skills that I have learned and developed throughout my education and clinical experience to facilitate growth in my clients. I am not an expert in any of my clients’ lives, but I strive to learn who they are from them and allow them to make decisions for themselves. I allow the client to guide the session so we can talk about the deep rooted problems when they are ready & tackle the daily struggles that cause anxiety & depression.

My practice is rooted in ACT, CFT and Psychodynamic theories, and I have made anti-racism and disability justice a core tenet of my practice; I hold my role with responsibility and care.
When it comes to finding the right therapist for you, there’s no one-size-fits-all! It is my goal to see the full you and to be curious about what you uniquely need as the dynamic human that you are. I honor your personal values, past experiences and place in the world. Above all, I prioritize a feeling of relational safety, and I don’t subscribe to the idea that therapy needs to be uncomfortable or overwhelming; I care about your limits and boundaries and I trust your intuition. I also bring myself into the room with humor and compassion, and you’ll be able to feel my warmth and presence in a reliable and kind way.

I also incorporate mindfulness and acceptance based therapies into my practice.
My passion is treating severe OCD and anxiety. My clients joke that I am "not a talk therapist, but a 'do' therapist," as sessions are often very active and skills focused. I view therapy as a supportive environment where I can help clients face their fears. I only provide evidence-based treatments (methods proven by research to be more effective than general talk therapy), as my goal is to help people get results as soon as possible.

I use a client-centered approach to therapy with a heavy emphasis on cognitive-behavioral, acceptance, and mindfulness orientations.
My name is Dezarie (Dez) Moskal. I am a licensed clinical psychologist (Ph.D.) who values helping my clients live their best lives. I have worked with a diverse range of adult clients, including those experiencing depression, anxiety, chronic pain, life transitions, PTSD, ADHD, and alcohol and substance use. I have 10 years of experience working with Veterans. I have also worked with college students and people who identify as BIPOC and LGBTQ+.

Hello! Do you feel like you're frequently battling unwanted thoughts and feelings? Are you getting "bossed around" by them in a way that's affecting your ability to enjoy life and feel present? Or negatively impacting your relationships, work, or other important areas of life? If so, you're not alone. Life can be challenging, which makes it difficult at times to make choices that are in line with what's best for us. I use a research-based therapy called Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), which includes mindfulness techniques and defining your values. ACT therapy helps people get back to living more meaningful lives.

My expertise is in working with anxiety, OCD, depression, and other difficulties, including life transitions, perfectionism, doubt/indecision, insomnia, and more. I earned my PhD in Clinical Psychology from Yale University and specialize in evidence-based therapies (i.e., ACT, ERP, and mindfulness-based CBT). In addition to being the gold-standard anxiety treatments, these approaches provide valuable tools for anyone interested in enhancing well-being and personal growth. Together, we will explore new ways to respond to thoughts and feelings and make behavioral changes, with more flexibility, awareness, self-compassion, and purpose.

Feeling alone, anxious, sad, hurt, or depressed in this uncertain world? It's difficult to bear alone. This often interferes with every day life, if not peace of mind. Maybe I can help you. Practicing for many years as a psychotherapist, I have come to know what a difference it makes when you have a trusted empathic person to talk to. I provide a safe, confidential space and hope to form that empathic understanding bond with you. It is there that you can discuss your fears and/or anxieties, and find resolutions and options in your life where you feared there were none.

Acceptance and Commitment (ACT) Therapists

How does acceptance and commitment therapy work?

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy encourages a person to listen to their self-talk. A person’s inner dialog can be indicative of how they treat themselves. ACT also encourages self-compassion; this can lead to a better understanding of negative thought patterns and emotional states. This understanding can then lead the individual to needed behavior change.

What are the goals of acceptance and commitment therapy?

The goal of acceptance and commitment is to expand a person’s psychological flexibility, a trait that encourages an individual to live in the present moment and to accept all their thoughts, feelings, and emotions, even ones that are difficult such as sadness and anxiety. In ACT, this acceptance is congruent with the individual’s values and beliefs.

Does acceptance and commitment therapy work for depression?

Acceptance and commitment therapy is effective for depression because it allows the individual to view their discomfort and suffering differently. Depressive feelings about relationship heartaches, for example, are a part of life. A despondent person learns to let go of their struggles and instead view their painful thoughts and feelings with compassion. This will lead the individual toward positive change.

How long are people typically in acceptance and commitment therapy?

A typical acceptance and commitment therapy session is 50 minutes long with one session per week. Treatment for common problems such as anxiety, depression, or relationship difficulties can last between eight weeks to four months. However, more severe cases may require more than one session a week and/or a longer time frame for treatment.
