Hello, My name is Elizabeth Chery. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with eight years of clinical experience. I have experience working with various individuals who face anxiety, depression, grief, loss, self-esteem, addiction, relationship concerns, and other life experiences. I utilize different therapeutic approaches, including cognitive behavioral therapy, Dialectic Behavioral Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing. I truly believe that treatment is for everyone, but not every therapist is for every client.

I am a clinical social worker and psychotherapist, with more than 20 years of direct practice experience, with a PhD in Clinical Social Work from New York University, as well as a dual degree in Social Work and Dance Movement Therapy from Hunter College. I work closely with psychiatrists and primary care providers to deliver high quality care to individuals, couples and families, and I am particularly interested in the intersection of health and mental health issues.

My work is characterized by assisting each person in finding meaning in their narratives, especially during existential crises or when confronting challenges as grief, sadness, loss, or overwhelming feelings.

I've treated children, adolescents and adults in inpatient psychiatric hospitals since 1994 while maintaining a private practice since 1996. In addition to a graduate degree in clinical psychology, I have had psychoanalytic training, along with a recent certification in global mental health. These have provided me with a unique perspective and skills that allow me to engage with patients in a collaborative relationship with the goal of exploring alternative solutions to difficulties that have persisted in the patient's life.

Footprints was started by a therapist who realized that often times the services provided to low socio-economic communities is lacking quality care. We noticed these communities were confronted with long wait times, disrespectful admins, and subpar treatment. The one and only purpose was to exploit the community for profit without providing the level of care deserved. Feel Better Therapy began from the inspiration to provide quality mental health care to the poorest of communities and treating the clients of this community the same way a rich patient would be treated in a clinic treating affluent clients.
