I have extensive experience working with young women dealing with depression, anxiety, grief/loss, trauma, codependency, life transitions, and more.
As women, oftentimes life demands a huge amount of our energy and mental capacity. In order to keep up, we tend to neglect ourselves or our relationships. When this happens we can begin to feel unbalanced. This constant demand can lead to overwhelming feelings of worry or sadness. We may worry about our future, the people in our lives, or things we need to get done. Additionally, at times we might feel as though we are being tested or triggered by unresolved issues or people from our past. This along with other challenges is bound to leave us feeling completely drained and out of balance.

If you are feeling confused, unmotivated, distracted, or have difficulty staying on task, this can be a sign that you are experiencing a disruption and conflict within yourself that is preventing you from achieving desired goals or enjoying your current life. While we travel this path we call life, sometimes we encounter obstacles that seem like we just can’t overcome. We all have goals in life and we desire the best things for ourselves but sometimes we don't always take the right course of action for ourselves. Our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors reflect a hidden belief system within ourselves which decides our path in life.

Therapy can open the door to so many positive changes in our lives. Working together we can discover new ways to create a healthy mind, body and spirit, and move forward on our personal pathway to growth. My services include psychotherapy for children, adolescents and young adults, as well as working with families, couples and individuals. My goal with each client is to develop a collaborative and trusting relationship. Through therapeutic techniques we can ease stress, depression and anxiety, work to resolve conflict, build self-esteem, and address other concerns that are interfering with day-to-day life.

Not accepting new clients
Most people find it quite difficult to begin seeing a therapist regardless of the reason. It does not seem natural to expose one's innermost struggles to a complete stranger. After working in the field for 27 years I have found that the initial discomfort felt by many dissipates rather quickly when they encounter a warm, supportive person who offers genuine hope.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
