The therapeutic relationship is a sacred trust.
People choose to pursue therapy when challenges begin to impact their ability to think, feel and behave in ways that are helpful, productive and satisfying. Challenges emerge as part of a script, a story we tell ourselves about what is true about our identity, strengths/weaknesses, relationships, and our place in the world. Common symptoms of anxiety and depression, for example, are not "problems" as much as they are a result of frustrated attempts to manage challenges. One of the goals of therapy is to rewrite that script, and create a new story of ourselves with tools to pursue a life of purpose and meaning.

I believe we change while in relationship to others, so I am very interactive in sessions using my impressions, thoughts and feelings to give you feedback throughout the process.
It can sometimes take a brave moment to finally call to get help. I understand that most people would like to solve their problems on their own. My task is to remind you of how to do that. Anxiety, depression and relationship issues can take away the strength to see the way out. I can help. Old ways of thinking or past experiences cloud the present and block us from living fully. Our work together will assist you in being more fully present in your life and in your relationships. Interactively, I will support you and challenge you to change.

I have been working In the field of therapy for 8 years helping clients by addressing a range of difficult circumstances in the areas of depression, anxiety, trauma, relationship issues, adjustment, and substance abuse.
Sometimes life can feel unmanageable and prevent us from reaching our personal goals in life. Therapy can open new doors to connecting more deeply with ourselves and others. Taking the step to seek therapy can be frightening and difficult. As a therapist my goal is to help individuals, families, and couples overcome life's challenges.

Often, the decision to seek professional help for oneself or a loved one is not an easy one but one that reaps tremendous rewards. I take a holistic approach to my work and believe that capitalizing on a client's strengths is a significant component to successful treatment, as is the therapeutic relationship and trust that one has with their therapist. I work collaboratively with other professionals who may be involved, such as school personnel, psychiatrists, and medical doctors, especially if medication is involved.

Whether mental distress manifests as substance abuse, anxiety, depression, relationship issues or life event stressors, understanding the nature of the mind itself and developing coping techniques to calm waves of agitation is of paramount importance. As mental distress is diminished through counseling techniques such as cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, and mindfulness techniques, then present issues can be examined collaboratively at a pace that feels comfortable. Successful change must be growth enhancing but not overwhelming. Personally, I find yoga and meditation powerful for self renewal.

I specialize in working with individuals and couples during the perinatal phase of life. Many of us are sold the idea of a "village" and often feel discouraged and isolated to discover the village we thought would appear does not readily arrive, especially at such an incredibly rewarding and challenging time in our lives. My goal is to help clients navigate this path and discover how to incorporate being a parent into their identity, maintain their relationships, and acknowledge their experience. You are not alone, there will be a village, and I'll support you while you put yours together.

It could be that the strategies you once found helpful have stopped working, or never worked how you needed. Or maybe you're in uncharted waters, unsure of what to do next. Either way, chances are you've hit a wall. As humans, we can't always see the full picture when we're part of it. From a non-judging, objective lens, therapists can see things you may have missed. We have been trained to "peel the onion", to help you access the lost parts of yourself. If you're looking for someone who's caring, listens deeply, understands your feelings, helps you explore your origins, and challenges negative thoughts, you're in the right place.

Relationship Issues Therapists
While need for human connection appears to be innate, the ability to form healthy, loving relationships is learned. Some evidence suggests that the ability to form a stable relationship starts to form in infancy, in a child's earliest experiences with a caregiver who reliably meets the infant's needs for food, care, warmth, protection, stimulation, and social contact. Such relationships are not destiny, but they are theorized to establish deeply ingrained patterns of relating to others. The end of a relationship, however, is often a source of great psychological anguish.
