For over twenty-five years, I have been practicing in the field of psychotherapy. During this time, I have specialized in the treatment of both adults and children living with ADHD. I have also worked with many individuals and families dealing with depression, anxiety, and difficulty adjusting with changes, such as divorce and/or problems derived from relationships.

I have been a licensed psychologist for the past 32 years. I have always felt it is a privilege to work with people and help them achieve the life they desire. My approach is to help people look at past events and experiences which affect their mood and behaviors today and prevent them from getting what they want in life. I also focus on the present by teaching people skills to lead a healthy and fulfilling life. We set goals together and work towards meeting them. Dr. Elaine Walen is a licensed Psychologist in Rhode Island with a strong background in developmental psychology. Her Bachelor's degree is in early childhood development, and she was a second-grade teacher. She has Master's degrees in developmental psychology and educational psychology, and a doctoral degree in counseling psychology. Dr. Walen is currently providing affirming care through full-battery psychological and neuropsychological assessments across the lifespan.
