I am a doctorally-prepared, board-certified Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner. I utilize a holistic, trauma-informed, culturally sensitive, and collaborative approach to managing a variety of mental health conditions requiring medication treatment. Although I specialize in psychiatric (medication) treatment, I value integrative and complementary therapies and will offer these options alongside medications as requested or indicated. Additionally, I offer the option of conducting visits virtually. In doing so, I aim to increase access to psychiatric care with the use of Telemedicine, an evidence-based healthcare delivery model.

From my years of practice and practice experience, I have learned that it is important to take time to listen and understand every family’s and individual’s unique needs, and to keep current with the latest advances in psychiatric treatments. Dr. Ma is board-certified by American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. Dr. Ma graduated from Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine, and obtained Ph.D. in Neuroscience from University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Medicine, he finished residency training in Psychiatry at University of Alabama at Birmingham Medical Center, and completed research and fellowship training at Howard Hughes Medical Institute and University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center.
