I diagnose and treat a wide variety of mental health conditions in a safe, compassionate, and empathetic environment. In some cases, I may provide some adjunct, but limited Individual Therapy. The thing I want you to most understand - there is hope. I am a big proponent of helping clients see the end-goal of mental health treatment - to feel and function better. There are two things a client must do to accomplish this goal. One, effective therapy; and two, the right mental health medication(s). And in case you are wondering - yes, I believe you are normal!

I am a passionate psychiatric nurse practitioner committed to providing comprehensive mental health care to individuals struggling with mental health disorders including depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder and ADHD. I strive to empower patients on their individual journey towards improved well-being utilizing a holistic treatment with consideration to biologic, social and psychological factors that may influence mental health.

Kelly LaPointe is a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner in Ohio who has been practicing since 2019. She has a Master's of Science in Nursing, Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner from The Ohio State University, a Bachelor's of Science in Nursing from Chamberlain College of Nursing, and an Associate of Science in Nursing from Ohio University. Kelly has more than 2 decades of nursing experience in the psychiatric field, ranging from child to adult inpatient care to community mental health crisis stabilization as well as many years in medical critical care settings.

Julia is a psychiatric nurse practitioner and holds a master’s degree in nursing from Ohio University and an undergraduate degree in psychology from the University of Minnesota. Prior to becoming a nurse, she worked as psychosocial specialist helping patients who have mental health challenges navigate the healthcare system and community resources. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from Idaho State University. For the last 11 years she has practiced as an intermediate ICU nurse in a variety specialties.

My interest in Psychology began by spending time with my stepfather, who was a psychiatrist. I became very interested in schizophrenia in 7th grade, which was a surprise to my teacher. I remember my stepfather helping me figure out how to pronounce medications during a trip to see my grandparents. In college, in the 1980’s, I volunteered for a domestic violence shelter/suicide hotline. I took every Psychology course offered by my undergraduate university as my electives.

As a dual board-certified Psychiatric NP and a Family NP, I have a very strong belief in the connection between mental and physical health and wellness. I am dedicated to providing comprehensive, empathetic care to all of my patients, and I spend the time necessary to do that. Dr. Mahilo is certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. She completed her psychiatry training at Cleveland Clinic Akron General/Summa Health, where she served as a chief resident. She earned her medical degree from Northeast Ohio Medical University and her undergraduate degree from Kent State University. She is a member of the American Medical Association. She has experience working with adults in both inpatient and outpatient settings. Dr. Mahilo's specialty areas of interest include the treatment of anxiety and panic disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), substance use disorders and depression.

Brandy S. Hill is a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner in Ohio who has been practicing since 2022. Living in today's world can be difficult. Karen Steffes is a Board Certified Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner. She has six years of experience as a Psychiatric Nurse and over two years as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner. She earned her both her master's degree in nursing and her bachelor's degree in nursing from University of Akron. She has worked with patients who range in age from 6-75 in multiple settings including inpatient, outpatient, intensive outpatient and partial hospitalization programs. She works with both individuals and families to provide medication management and patient education with a goal of achieving optimal mental health.
