I was born and raised in Athens, Greece and attended medical school in Padua, Italy. I completed my psychiatric residency at Mount Sinai West (formerly known as St. Luke's Roosevelt) hospital in New York. I completed my sex therapy training at the University of Michigan. I have extensive experience working with the LGBTQIA+ population. I am able to conduct evaluations and write letters for gender marker changes, hormone therapy, and gender affirming surgery procedures. Furthermore I am working with non-monogamy/polyamory, BDSM/Kink, relationship issues, sex therapy, sex work and trauma issues.

Dr. Gaveras holds the position of Chief Psychiatrist at Talkiatry. She is board certified in child, adolescent and adult psychiatry as well as in addiction medicine and has been practicing for over 17 years. In addition to general and child and adolescent psychiatry, Dr. Gaveras is also board certified in addiction medicine and trained in the Eating Disorders, Compulsions and Addictions Service (EDCAS) at the William Alanson White Institute. While having treated a wide variety of patients, her primary clinical focus has been in the treatment of adolescents and young adults with co-occuring substance use disorders.
