Here at the Venn Center, we offer patients a unique therapeutic experience. I conduct psychiatric evaluations and assessments, as well as provide both individual and group psychotherapy to clients of all ages. I also offer pharmacotherapy and medication management when appropriate. That being said, 25% of my patients are not on any medication since I employ non-medicinal interventions that help remediate psychiatric symptoms whenever possible. Offering these complementary services allows the clients I work with to feel empowered in their desire for change toward a healthier way of being.

Hi, I am a board certified general adult and forensic psychiatrist. I have experience in treating patients with mental illness in a variety of settings. I am licensed in New Jersey and New York and offer telepsychiatry at this time. Dr. Christopher Hannon is a Board Certified Psychiatric and Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. He obtained his Doctor of Nursing Practice degree from the University of Louisville. His training covers mental health treatment across the lifespan including psychopharmacological management of psychiatric conditions and a host of therapeutic modalities. Areas of particular interest include trauma/PTSD, depression/anxiety, substance use disorders, as well as stigma around mental illness and in general.

In my work as a psychiatrist I recognize that my patients are more than a list of symptoms. My goal is to offer a consultation and assessment that is tailored to my patient’s needs.

The most meaningful, rewarding part of my work, both for my patients and for me, is the healing relationship that develops in psychotherapy sessions. With prescribed medications or not, psychotherapy is a better way of taking advantage of my additional training and experience in Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry, a mind-body relationship specialty, and especially of my psychoanalytic training, a way of listening and observing which invites both the patient and the doctor to treat the mind with the curiosity, humility and respect it deserves. I am a general adult psychiatrist, completing residency training and forensic fellowship at Yale where I also had the amazing experience of serving as chief resident. My experience includes pharmacotherapy with emphasis on treatment for general mood disorders, post-partum depression, anxiety, insomnia, postraumatic stress disorder, ADHD, and maintaining sobriety/post-substance abuse, in addition to a range of clinical issues with more specific psychiatric foci.
