Melissa has worked in the Greater Lansing community in mental health support for nearly 19 years. Her experience includes teaching yoga and meditation, supporting community members with access and inclusion, psychiatric nursing, and psychiatric nurse practitionership. She has a special interest in women and the LGBTQI+ community's equitable access to compassionate and informed healthcare, and the treatments of anxiety disorders, OCD, depression, bipolar disorder, and thought disorders.
Melissa brings a holistic approach to each person who seeks help and believes in partnering with all individuals seeking treatment to find the most helpful approach for them. She is passionate about recovery-based treatment models, trauma-informed care, mindfulness approach and training, intuitive eating, and the concepts of neutrality and dialectics.
In her free time, Melissa enjoys time with family, writing, crocheting blankets, travelling, hiking with her dogs, seeing music, and reading as much as possible.
