As a Yale trained Board-Certified Adult & Addiction Psychiatrist, I provide only the highest quality and evidence-based mental health treatment. I work with all mental health conditions such as depression, anxiety, bipolar, PTSD, OCD, etc. I also specialize in helping with alcohol/drug issues, ADHD, and LGBTQIA+ issues. I have an extensive knowledge of the latest research and treatments and am a strong advocate for the patients I work with. Treatment includes medication management and an optional therapy component. You may also request comprehensive evaluations, and if appropriate, addiction med management including suboxone.

My ideal client is anyone and everyone, especially those that have felt overlooked, misunderstood and/or marginalized by previous providers. Please note that I am licensed in and can only see clients who reside in Connecticut. Clients in my practice seek a provider who is compassionate, comprehensive and understands their individual needs. I am also one of the few practitioners in the area that will consult on and prescribe gender affirming hormone therapy to adults.

I have worked with a variety of populations including those with persistent mental illness, neurodivergence, dementia, and chronic medical illnesses. I have significant experience in providing care to individuals in the LGBTQ+ community. My experience includes medication management for mood disorders, anxiety, ADHD, OCD, schizophrenia, and substance use disorders. I work with clients of all ages including children and geriatric clients.

I am a compassionate and skilled PMHNP with dual-board certifications in Family Medicine and Psychiatry. I obtained my BSN from the University of Massachusetts Boston. I then received a MSN specializing in family medicine from Massachusetts College of Pharmacy. I earned a Post-Master’s Graduate Certificate in Psychiatric Mental Health from the University of Massachusetts Worcester Medical School. Throughout my career, I’ve worked in diverse healthcare settings, including primary care, surgical, psychiatric, and within the VA healthcare system, where I dedicated my services to veterans.

I have extensive training in both inpatient and outpatient psychiatry. I prefer to see patients for both psychotherapy and psychopharmacology, although I am open to working with other therapists. I have affiliation with both NYU and Lenox Hill Hospital and enjoy teaching both psychiatry residents and medical students as a voluntary attending. I provide patient focused therapy. I believe that everyone responds differently to different treatment and the best way to achieve their goals is to take a collaborative approach.

I approach the clients by understanding each client as a whole person, deep respect for individuals as unique human beings by using a creative process and open-ended communication. I am mindful in prescribing medications. My ultimate treatment goals not only target the treatment of mental health problems, but I will take effort to facilitate clients’ personal growth and improve their vitality.

I work with children, teens, women, and families, focusing on how behavioral changes (sometimes coupled with medication) can improve their psychological & physical well-being. When addressing the concerns of a child, I include the whole family system. I am a board-certified psychiatric and mental health nurse practitioner who has a special interest in working with adolescents and young adults. I am a native of Puerto Rico and a transplanted New Yorker. I graduated from Cornell University Medical College and completed a residency at St. Vincent's Hospital, followed by a fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry at Mt. Sinai Medical Center in New York. I have been in CT since 1989, initially as an assistant professor of psychiatry at Yale and director of the Connecticut Mental Health Center's Hispanic Clinic. I subsequently worked extensively as chief of the psychiatric crisis service at Griffin Hospital. I am currently the medical director of the Community Child Guidance Clinic in Manchester, CT.
