I am Medically trained Physician Psychiatrist.I had the privilege to train at Royal London & St Bartholomew’s Hospital for 4 years in various branches of Psychiatry before I moved to the USA. I had a further Residency Training at SUNY Downstate Hospital Brooklyn, NY followed by a one year of Child Psychiatry training at the University of Florida. I have a fellowship in psychoanalysis from NYU and a 2 year of psychodynamic psychotherapy training at Willam Alanson White Institute , NYC.

Dr. Welch is a graduate of medical school with five postdoctoral years of formal training in psychiatry, more than the usual, board-certified psychiatrist. He has additional, specialized training in diagnostics and has been asked to testify in a number of high profile court cases in recognition of his training and background. As a medical doctor and psychiatrist who provides sophisticated psychotherapy, Dr. Welch provides the highest level of diagnostic skills and medication expertise to patients who he comes to know quite well. A patient's privacy is considered to be extremely important and is carefully protected.

Eduardo obtained his bachelor’s degree in Nursing from State college of Florida, Master of Science in Nursing from Drexel University. Additionally, he is certified as Psychiatric Mental Health NursePractitioner by the American Nurses Credentialing Center ANCC. In addition to his extensive professional training, Eduardo also brings a unique cultural perspective. As a native of Peru, Eduardo brings unique insight to those who may feel as outsiders, or have experienced moving or adapting to a new environment. Eduardo speaks fluent English and Spanish, and can treat patients in both languages.

A mental condition is never the result of one cause. The biopsychosocial treatment model was developed to address the interplay of biological, psychological, and social factors. While psychologists, LCSWs, or LMHCs are able to manage the psychological and social aspects of treatment, only a psychiatrist can assess and treat all three spheres. There may be underlying medical conditions that can present as psychiatric symptoms. Many mental conditions (depression/anxiety/ADHD) may require specific drugs that only an MD can provide.
