Topher obtained his Bachelor and Master of Science in Nursing at Florida International University. He is Board Certified as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner in Florida and Colorado. Topher has experience across a wide range of medical and psychiatric disorders. He has worked in a long-term acute care hospital and an inpatient behavioral health/psychiatric unit prior to joining OptiMindHealth as an outpatient clinician.

I employ both psychotherapy and psychiatric medication, when appropriate, to improve the functioning and happiness and alleviate the suffering of my patients. I feel that medications can provide relief for biological psychiatric conditions, but most of the long term relief comes from working through and reworking unhealthy behavioral patterns. Treating Psychiatric conditions is an art that requires balancing the medical treatments with looking at unconscious maladaptive behaviors. Once patterns are identified, the work we do will lead to change. I take the approach of meeting clients where they are at and working together in a relational model to reprocess and work through trauma.

My journey into psychiatric mental health care spans diverse experiences. Originating from Ghana, I earned degrees in Marketing, Psychology, and Political Science before delving into nursing in the United States. With a background in nursing education and a focus on PMHNP, I am pursuing my DNP.

She is board certified as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. She had previously worked in multiple different care settings, and appreciates working as an outpatient clinician because of the long term care she can provide to her patients during their journey of healing.
