I am a board-certified psychiatrist and graduate of the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) and New York University (NYU). After graduating as chief resident, I went on to pursue a fellowship and work in the public sector serving those most in need. My clients often include those that have been struggling with difficulties that impair their day to day function, leaving them unsatisfied, unhappy or struggling with inner turmoil or anxiety. I am a general adult psychiatrist, practicing individual psychotherapy, group psychotherapy, couple psychotherapy, psychopharmacology, and neuropsychiatry. My approach can be described as eclectic and practical. I routinely treat people with mood disorders, anxiety disrders, addiction disorders, and personality disorders.

I am a Brown University-trained psychiatrist with expertise in psychopharmacology and different types of psychotherapy, I completed a fellowship in psychodynamic psychotherapy at Boston Psychoanalytic Society and Institute and am Board Certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. I am a Clinical Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at NYU Langone Medical Center, and I have had prior affiliations with other Universities: Brown and Columbia. By maintaining this academic involvement, I am able to stay up to date in this rapidly evolving field.

A distinguished graduate of Rutgers University and St. George's University School of Medicine, Dr. Devesh Jalan is a board-certified psychiatrist who specializes in providing patient-centered care. After serving as an attending psychiatrist for family health centers in Florida and California caring for patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings, Dr. Jalan brings a wealth of experience to his work with patients at NYC Psychiatric Associates.

Most of the patients who have worked with me over the years have a variety of different mental health issues. These include depression, anxiety and substance dependence. However, in psychiatry, there are many other mental health matters which need to be diagnosed and carefully treated. I feel very capable and prepared given my years of experience to work with patients who have these conditions as well.
