I am a board-certified licensed psychiatrist with more than 15 years of experience in private practice. I help adults with ADHD, depression, anxiety, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, low self-esteem, relationship issues, stress at work and school, family planning and adjusting to being a new parent. I am knowledgeable, keeping up to date with current research, compassionate, easy to talk to and considerate to individual needs of my clients.

My professional background is Child, Adolescent and Adult Psychiatry. I am also board certified in Forensic Psychiatry. I am currently on faculty at NYU School of Medicine and I have been an attending psychiatrist at the NYU Medical Center, where I worked for three years as the Director of the Young Adult Unit. I specialize in treating children, teens and adults. I have extensive experience in the evaluation and treatment of many areas of concern including but not limited to anxiety, OCD, depression, attentional disorders, acting out behaviors as well as issues concerning relationships, career and identity.

Currently affiliated with Readywell Psychiatric. Here to work with any and all patients experiencing depression spectrum, anxiety, ADHD and/or PTSD. In tandem with our psychopharmacological treatment, I tend to encourage targeted psychotherapy alongside for those patients who do not currently have therapists. However, everyone is unique and I am glad to evaluate individual needs!

We are all faced with unexpected hurdles at many stages in life. This aspect of human nature makes me a strong advocate for nurturing our mental health from a young age and throughout our lives. I am here to partner with children, adolescents, young adults and their families. I will assist in navigating these challenges, helping remove barriers and accompanying each client as they grow toward their full potential in a way that meets their own unique needs, beliefs and values.

Guided by my belief that authentic, meaningful relationships drive high quality care, I partner with our patients and families to first treat psychiatric symptoms, and then move into a preventative approach. I help my patients, both kids or adults, to discover and build on their own strengths, educate them about the science behind how their brains work, and then provide them with the necessary tools to become their own health expert. It is a privilege to do what I do on a daily basis; working with the "body/mind connection". I love working with people and going through their life stages together; adolescents, college students, young adults and then adults. I believe that the modality of treatment should be suited to the patient's needs. I have trained through different schools and continue to do so. Once we work together on identifying their issues, we work on them with a "tailored treatment", that said; individual psychotherapy, mindfulness meditation, complementary treatment with vitamins, exercises and if needed medication.

My goal is to provide patient-centered, individualized, and holistic care for my patients. I believe that a focus and orientation towards mental wellness is more beneficial than addressing client's symptoms through a mental illness lens. Shared decision making and collaboration are important values in my practice in order to meet patients where they are at. Clinical assessments are considered through a biopsychosocial model to consider the full picture. My intent is that patients learn more about themselves to integrate learned tools to cope and thrive in their lives beyond our therapy and/or medication management sessions.

I treat people with difficulties in relationships, work, school, and social settings. I have an eclectic style in psychotherapy, with a psychodynamic focus, as well as administer medication when necessary. I will incorporate techniques to help with changing habits, lifestyle, and to encourage healthier coping skills. I also specialize in treating people with trauma in their background which is also helpful during this stressful time of forced isolation and collective fear.

Here at the Venn Center, we offer patients a unique therapeutic experience. I conduct psychiatric evaluations and assessments, as well as provide both individual and group psychotherapy to clients of all ages. I also offer pharmacotherapy and medication management when appropriate. That being said, 25% of my patients are not on any medication since I employ non-medicinal interventions that help remediate psychiatric symptoms whenever possible. Offering these complementary services allows the clients I work with to feel empowered in their desire for change toward a healthier way of being.

I am a Yale-educated, Cornell- and Columbia-trained psychiatrist (MD) with a PhD in neuroscience, providing customized treatment based on individual needs. I am committed to improving the wellness of my patients through a flexible and responsive approach. I specialize in psychotherapy and psychopharmacology for anxiety, OCD, ADHD, mood, and personality disorders. I am well versed in CBT, IPT, DBT, and psychodynamic psychotherapy (insight-oriented psychotherapy). I'm board certified (ABPN) in child, adolescent, and adult psychiatry. I believe that effective treatment requires getting to know patients as individuals.

Jocelyn Soffer, M.D. is a child, adolescent, and adult psychiatrist in private practice, offering psychotherapy and psychopharmacology treatment. She received her B.A. in Philosophy from Yale University, and her M.D. from the Yale University School of Medicine. She completed her Adult Psychiatry Internship and Residency at Mount Sinai, serving as chief resident, with Board Certification by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. She also completed a fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at NYU, and is now on faculty there as Clinical Assistant Professor of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, teaching undergraduates.
