I am an experienced licensed clinical social worker trained by the IFS institute. I take an integrative approach to therapy, emphasizing healing mind, body, and soul. I believe that therapy should be enjoyable and non-judgmental. I am told that I create a collaborative and compassionate environment where my clients and I are able to tap into deep inner wisdom, provide insight, and apply concrete methods to heal and move forward. The result? Becoming brave enough to build a deep connection to your truest self and live authentically. Spirituality is incorporated, as desired.

I provide counseling that is cognitively-based, direct, yet non-judgmental and down-to-earth. I believe humor is an important component of the therapeutic process and I use it often, while being sensitive to my clients' concerns. I believe my style helps people be more at ease when talking about issues they need help with. My ideal client is someone who believes in the possible; someone who wants to explore and learn their true potential. Now I offer online counseling for NJ residents. This provides another way for people to address their concerns in the privacy of their own space.

The goals of this group will be to maintain a positive outlook with life’s situation. We will reflect on various challenges and triumphs each week. We will also strategize how to deal with those issues. The idea is to have a comfortable relaxed space to talk. It's important to make sure everyone talks and feels safe. The goal of the group will be a space for participants to open up and not feel intimidated to speak their minds and discuss various issues. A place to organize your thoughts to develop strategies to manage life on a daily basis.

Outpatient trauma treatment can sometimes miss the key educational pieces clients get at a more intensive level of care - including the crucial parts perspective. I will draw on my knowledge of IFS, trauma-informed, DBT, etc. to fill in those gaps. Each session will begin with an educational presentation and then provide time to process and integrate what was just presented on a personal level. This informative psycho-ed/support group is a closed group for men (LBGTQ+ inclusive!) and will meet 6 times. $360 total. OON receipts provided. Starting March '24!

Men's Issues Support Groups

Is therapy for men different than it is for women?

Therapeutic treatments and types are the same for men as they are for women, with the same protocols followed and the same strategies employed. Discussing one’s feelings and emotions is an integral part of most therapies, and some men find doing so more challenging. Therapists can help clients through the process; some specialize in treating men for this reason.

How do you encourage a man to go to therapy?

It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either himself or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.

How can men prepare for therapy?

Men can prepare for therapy by approaching the process with an open mind, being willing to talk about their challenges, and giving treatment the time to work. Before a session, an individual may want to reflect on how they’ve felt since the last session and what’s happened in their lives. It can be useful for men who struggle to recall their emotional states to write down notes between sessions about their response to a given event or how they were feeling at a particular time.

What should men know about the process of therapy?

One of the most common reasons men don’t seek therapy is the notion that there’s something wrong with them if they do. Men should know that just because they’re seeking therapy doesn’t mean they’re mentally ill or damaged in some way. In the same way people work on their bodies through exercise or a craft through practice, therapy can be a way to improve the mental and emotional skills needed to be productive and effective partners, employees, and people in all realms of life.
