Hi my name is Dan Jackson. I got into counselling for two reasons: Firstly, to help people grow into their fullest and best selves. And secondly, to help people who are struggling to find relief and restoration.

I work with all ages and specialise working with teens and young adults who are struggling. Challenges can come from anywhere; the loss of a loved one, a health condition, problems at school or work, anxiety, trauma, bullying, depression, attacks on dignity, abuse, or being spoken to in unhelpful ways. Problems can get you feeling overwhelmed, hopeless and stuck. I invite you to let me journey with you from that stuck place to hope and peace.

I was born in South Africa but have lived in New Zealand most of my life. I have had many life experiences such as volunteering in the NZ Fire Service (11 years) and travelling and volunteering in Africa. My passion for counselling grew as I spent time with people in my various experiences and travels, and discovered my desire for better skills to more effectively listen and help people navigate through their shared life experiences with me. I consider it a deep privilege to share a welcoming, safe, and honoring space with a person who chooses to share their footsteps with me. I am also a faith based counselling service (Christian).

The experience of engaging in counselling is a deeply personal journey that affects all of us in different ways, and sometimes in ways we would never have expected. By us talking together through your concerns, counselling can support you to see solutions you didn’t know were there. It can also help you find ways to manage better and move on in your life I understand and honour that each person’s story is unique in that we are all affected by life in different ways. I also understand the importance of being respectful of each person’s culture and belief systems.
