I work with women to explore and strengthen their low self-esteem. If you feel not good enough, often experience jealousy or comparison or you're prone to people pleasing, then self esteem counselling may be for you. We live in a high pressure world and many things can contribute towards low self-esteem – a difficult childhood, a hurtful comment or a disappointing relationship. But self-esteem can be renewed and repaired. Many of my clients report feeling significantly better after completing our counselling sessions together. And they go on to create a life they love.

I offer therapy to adults, young people, and couples. Counselling can help when we feel stuck, lost and overwhelmed and can’t find a way to make sense of those difficult feelings on our own. Speaking to someone who isn’t a friend or family member can help you to see a problem from a different perspective, without judgement or bias. You may be struggling with feelings of sadness, anxiety, stress, anger or loss. Perhaps you'd like to find the mental tools to help give you greater resilience and confidence. Or you could be looking for ways to manage conflict and improve communication within your personal relationships.

My aim is to help you reflect on what is troubling you, help you to seek an understanding of what you are experiencing and work with you to explore what options there are at this difficult time. I offer both short-term work (based on 12 sessions) or where appropriate sessions based on an open-ended long-term basis

Maybe you are feeling anxious or depressed or have experienced traumatic life-events and are looking for a safe and confidential space where you can mentally re-group and begin to thrive rather than just survive life's challenges. You might be facing a loss or going through some kind of transition that is challenging your sense of self. Together we can carefully explore how you really feel and identify any changes you might want to make.

If we never take a leap of faith then we never know. More significantly we remain stuck. I often talk to clients about the power of change. In my work I am for people to gain a greater understanding of who they really are. Whilst enabling them to explore their feelings, circumstances and relationships. The goal of our work together is to challenge any destructive patterns or behaviours and work towards positive active change. In the end this enables people to live a more fulfilling and calmer life.

I am described by my clients as kind, caring, patient, and compassionate; an exceptionally good and empathic listener who truly engages with his clients. I recognise we are all different and that counselling is not a one size fits all process. For example, our experience and perception of grief, loss, rejection and myriads of other experiences is personal to each and every one of us, therefore my approach to counselling is to tailor the therapeutic process to meet the individual needs of clients.

You might be feeling low, anxious, stuck in a rut in a relationship or at work or, alternatively, repeating the same old mistakes. You might have decided it's time to make sense of things that have happened in the past or wondering how to resolve a situation that's happening right now. Perhaps things are feeling very distressing or difficult. You might be looking for clarity and a way forward or just some space to be heard.

I work with a wide range of issues some of which include: depression, trauma, anger, anxiety, stress, addictions, bereavement, illness, men's issues, motherhood, women's issues, retirement, work stress, loss and relationship conflict.
I understand it can be hard to approach therapy for the first time, or maybe you are currently in need of support during an uncertain time or are feeling distressed. It can feel difficult knowing where to start. We would work together to explore your feelings, thoughts and behaviours so you can better understand yourself and others. Psychodynamic Psychotherapy can support you and give you understanding about your emotional responses to life events and insight to help cope in times of stress. I offer a safe and confidential space, where you can begin to make sense of your feelings and to identify how you would like to move forward.

I am experienced in helping clients that feel confused about their life’s direction, struggle making or maintaining relationships or feel their relationship has reached a ‘stuck’ point.
Asking for help can be difficult and contacting a therapist may feel scary. That’s why from our first contact I aim to create a safe, confidential non-judgemental space for you to explore your difficulties. Talking to a therapist offers a different perspective on how you feel and relate to others. We’ll draw on your past and present to find new ways to move forward for the best future for you. We can all get stuck reacting in ways that are not always useful to our wellbeing. Working with a psychotherapist brings insight into how we react, why we react that way, and changing negative patterns thinking, feeling and behaviour.

I have worked with many clients over the years where a trigger, for example a job promotion, or a difficult relationship with a manager or a significant life event, have resulted in emotional distress such as anxiety, depression and self-doubt. I offer my clients a way of understanding this and the tools to manage their feelings so that they can reach their life goals. With the help of therapy, my highly motivated clients have found ways to feel more content, have more satisfying relationships with others, enjoy life more and have a deeper understanding of their strengths and areas of vulnerability.

Problems are personal, bereavement, depression, stress, relationship breakdowns and anxiety can all feel unbearable and isolating. The reasons for seeking counselling or psychotherapy are as unique and varied as we are. Sometimes we have an idea of what is annoying or upsetting us. Sometimes we struggle to understand issues that darken our days. We might enter a cycle of blame or self-loathing in which we get lost, finding it difficult to move forwards in our lives.

Relationship Issues Counsellors
While need for human connection appears to be innate, the ability to form healthy, loving relationships is learned. Some evidence suggests that the ability to form a stable relationship starts to form in infancy, in a child's earliest experiences with a caregiver who reliably meets the infant's needs for food, care, warmth, protection, stimulation, and social contact. Such relationships are not destiny, but they are theorized to establish deeply ingrained patterns of relating to others. The end of a relationship, however, is often a source of great psychological anguish.
