I understand what you’re carrying is heavy. Therapists in the past were cold and removed, dismissed and diminished you, not understanding the complexity of gender and identity. You’ve researched, journaled, listened to the podcasts, tried CBT, DBT, breathing exercises; anything to release the fear of having to navigate a dangerous world of violence, hate, oppression, and misinformation. A world that wants you erased. I know this because I see so much of my own story in yours; the black sheep (cycle breaker, dreamer) in a family or workplace that doesn’t know you and makes no effort to do so. You want to feel seen, heard, respected.

My therapy practice is deeply rooted in celebrating 2SLGBTQ identities, neurodivergence, harm reduction, building a better relationship with your body and eating, and unpacking the impacts of trauma. If you tend to intellectualize your emotions and struggle to really feel them, my somatic and arts-based approach may work for you. You may already have a clear idea of what you'd like to discuss in therapy - or you may not! Either way is more than welcome.

I draw elements from internal family systems (IFS), somatic therapy, traditional talk therapy, art and play therapy, and neuroscience.
I work with adults and youth 12+. I have particular experience supporting neurodivergent folks who may be experiencing mental health challenges related to ADHD or ASD, such as burnout, substance use, anxiety and depression, school avoidance, feelings of isolation, relationship challenges, overwhelm, family conflict. I also work with families and caregivers of young people to help support family cohesion.

In my practice I combine the useful tools offered by CBT with person-focused meaning-making talk therapies such as Internal Family Systems (IFS) and Existential Psychotherapy.
Welcome. I’m happy you’re here because it means you believe things can get better, and that means you have hope. Hope is a great starting point. All of us woke up in this place called life, and none of us got a manual, let me help you make the most of it. I strive to create a warm, collaborative, and welcoming atmosphere where your bravery and vulnerability are met with a non-judgmental and curious attitude that allows for new insights and self-awareness to surface. I love walking alongside my client’s on their journey to build resilience, tenacity and self-leadership.

Over the past 10 years, I've expanded my toolkit to include evidence-based methods like CBT, the Family Systems model, and Sensorimotor therapy.
I offer both short-term and long-term psychotherapy sessions aimed at enhancing your emotional and social intelligence. If you have an interest in understanding your place in the world, or if you find yourself caught up in complicated relationship dynamics if you are navigating life transitions such as burnout, loss, new caregiving responsibilities, divorce, or if you're feeling numb, joyless, anxious, or depressed, having someone with a broader perspective can be incredibly helpful. Using the adult developmental model, I guide you in repairing your relationship with yourself so that you can co-create with life.

I am skilled in working with clients across a broad range of concerns, including overall mental health, life transition, grief/loss, complex and family trauma, gender and sexuality, and attachment related struggles.
Welcome! I am a queer and gender expansive therapist, offering individual online therapy across most Canadian jurisdictions. I offer a contextualizing, self-compassionate, and strengths based approach. While life's hardships will never disappear, I can help you come to more peace and aliveness within yourself. I offer a warm, non-judgmental space to be seen, heard, and grow within. Therapy is kind of like detangling a big ball of yarn; it can be both hard yet relieving (you're not broken, just tangled!), and ultimately allows room for more consciousness/choice to flow in: now that your threads are free, what would you like to weave?

Accepting New Clients! I am well renowned for working with relationship issues (using attachment theory) with individuals and couples, and mood disorders (depression, anxiety). I have robust expertise in treating concerns surrounding sleep/insomnia. Beyond that I treat struggles of self-esteem/self-worth, existential questions, burnout, life transitions, and other concerns. I also have lengthy career experience working therapeutically with grief and loss, as well as caregiver burnout. Yes that's a lot, but I just thinking helping people to heal is very neat, and so I have learned and studied so much.

We can spend a lot of our lives in survival mode: feeling stuck, unfulfilled, or overwhelmed. Admitting our struggles, needs, or desires for change is a courageous risk—and an opening! I see therapy as an opportunity to explore parts of ourself and our experiences we may have had to set aside before. It’s a chance to grow our capacities to feel, reflect, and connect in a supportive space. A lot happens when someone is walking with you, at your own pace, showing loving appreciation for your unique journey. I won't tell you what healing or a more fulfilling life looks like—I want to explore together what that means for you!

You may be carrying feelings of pain, sadness, confusion or worry. Maybe you are hoping to understand yourself better or reduce the stress of all that you are experiencing. You may have gone through trauma or discrimination. Regardless of what brings you to reading these words, you have recognized the importance of getting support. Walking alone through your struggles is isolating and exhausting. Walking with another can be a relief and foster a sense of hope and direction. You have a right to feel better and reduce the barriers to your life goals. You have the right to be yourself and to feel understood and supported.

I specialize in working with adults facing anxiety, depression, stress/burnout, confidence issues, life transitions, relationship challenges, grief, trauma, 2SLGBTQ+ concerns, and take a special focus in working alongside individuals with borderline personality disorder. I work from the position and understanding that life can be painful but we do not need to suffer. I view adversity as existing on a continuum, where pain is an unavoidable part of the human experience within the context of a persons life. Where healing takes time, and patience but it is worth the struggle, and effort to make the journey there for ourselves.

It is seeming all too normal these days to experience feelings of disconnection. A separation from ourselves, our passions, our bodies, our communities, etc. We spend so much time in our heads trying to figure out how to survive when we so desperately want to be thriving. Where has our aliveness gone? How do we get our bodies and our senses back online and truly show up for our unique experience?

It can be difficult to reach out for support when we find ourselves adrift in the ocean of our lives. Perhaps you've momentarily let go of your anchor and don't know how to find your way back or maybe you've been floating on your own for as long as you remember. Your circumstances and experiences are unique, but you don't have to be alone on your journey. I strive to use my professional training and unique insight from my lived experience to create a safe, non-judgmental and collaborative space where you can be free to explore your identity, experiences and internal processes.

Family Therapy Counsellors

What do family therapists do?

A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.

How long does therapy for families take to work?

Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.

How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?

You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.

Is therapy for families effective?

Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
