As a Nurse Practitioner, I offer a unique and integrative approach to mental health and wellness, including a personalized blend of cognitive coaching and mind body wellness.
Has feeling stressed, anxious, and burned out become your normal? You’re mentally, physically, and emotionally exhausted. You’re running on empty with no time or energy to fill your own tank. You feel overworked and undervalued. You're under a lot of pressure and overwhelmed with all you have to do, but it still seems like what you’re doing is never enough. You’re always waiting for the other shoe to drop. You say YES to everyone else, and no to yourself and what you truly want. The YOU you know you can be is in there somewhere, but there are so many layers of overwhelm, stress, and guilt that you have no idea where to start.

I use an integrative approach with CBT and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).
I will be there for you, to understand you and give you lots of room for whatever comes up. I work with people who have experienced trauma, pain, and are struggling to make meaning. If you wonder whether your therapist is going to be able to hold space for everything you're bringing, I'm a good fit for you. Whether it's anger, shame, hopelessness, thoughts of death, or things you never told anyone, I will be there and I can help you hold it. I believe in the inherent dignity of all people, and it shows. I am also solution-focused. We do not just sit with pain, we figure out how to make meaning together, so you can live well again.

We will understand how trauma & stress are stored within the body and release the tension through integrative and personalized approaches.
Do you feel like you're stuck? Are you noticing habits you want to change? Perhaps you’ve tried, and you just keep finding yourself back to where you started. Painful experiences can create this vicious cycle, sometimes leaving us with a version of ourselves that we no longer recognize. Are you noticing intense emotions? Or do you feel like you’re numb to your emotions? Either can be the aftermath of painful and stressful experiences that changes the way we see ourselves, other people, and the world around us. The good news here is, you’re human, you’re not alone, and lasting change is possible.

Using an integrative approach I can help you rally your resources to make the changes you want to make in your life.
People come to me to heal from trauma, to find ways to face challenges of today, and to grow into who they long to be. Many wrestle with the effects of that trauma on their day to day lives and relationships. Others are struggling with questions of meaning and faith. Some wrestle with guilt and shame and seek healing on a deep level. All are looking to walk with integrity. I have spent over 35 years working with psychology and spirituality. I have a deep understanding of the spiritual teachings and practices of many religions, a personal engagement in Buddhism, and experience in psychotherapy helping people find healing and growth.

Integrative Counsellors

What is integrative therapy?

Integrative therapy is a type of therapy that combines ideas and techniques from different therapeutic approaches depending on the needs of the individual client. By merging elements of different treatments, an integrative therapist aims to offer a more flexible approach than those who practice just one type of therapy.

How does integrative therapy work?

Integrative therapy approaches a client’s mental, physical, and emotional health in a holistic way to discover the sources of their unhealthy behaviour patterns or other challenges and considers the approach most likely to lead to improvement. Among the techniques an integrative therapist may practice are cognitive-behavioural therapy, dialectical behaviour therapy, EMDR, mindfulness, art or music therapy, psychodynamic therapy, breathwork, family systems therapy, gestalt therapy, and trauma-informed therapy. An integrative therapist regularly evaluates the client’s progress and is prepared to pivot to a different approach if progress stalls.

How long does integrative therapy last?

As with most forms of talk therapy, there is no set duration or end point for integrative therapy; people who find they are making progress typically continue until they feel they’ve addressed the issues that spurred them to seek treatment. New patients should understand that it may take some time for a therapist to land on a treatment approach that best meets their needs, but once they do, they should expect sessions to extend for a number of months, typically including at least 12 sessions.

How effective is integrative therapy?

There are hundreds of types of talk therapy, and research shows that while they vary in form, goals, and frequency, many if not all can produce similarly successful outcomes. But a single approach does not always deliver the greatest, or speediest, benefit, and so even therapists primarily trained in one model will use tools, language, techniques, or exercises from others to shape an effective treatment plan.
