First, my gratitude for your curiosity about my work. The foundation for all of my work is from a trauma-informed, culturally sensitive, and anti-oppressive lens. I have had the honour of working with a wide range of people who seek to navigate through challenges such as childhood trauma, sexual abuse/violence, grief, intimacy issues, anxiety, and chronic pain. I have witnessed the often beautiful and life-shifting, but complex journey of navigating such issues and the courage it takes to do so. I aim to create a space where this vulnerability is met with compassion, safety, support, and a guiding hand if you feel you need it.

Services are available to youth (12+) and adult clients experiencing low mood, anxiety, trauma, overwhelming emotions, burnout and/or loss of purpose.
Practicing courage, connection, and well-being within ourselves and in relationships is a process through all phases of life. It can be difficult to get "unstuck". Together, we'll explore answers to the questions: How does my past pain contribute to current suffering? What can I do about it now?

My aim is to guide clients through life transitions so that they can experience hope, growth, and confidence during periods of stress and loss.
With a broad base of life and work experiences, I counsel adults of all ages living with loss, trauma, mood imbalance, and anxiety. Three values guide my practice: connection, growth, and balance. A safe and trusting environment in counselling supports a therapeutic relationship, which can inspire changes in other relationships. Small changes can have a huge impact over time. Lifelong, each of us continues to develop, often learning from our mistakes and suffering. Balance is the key to health. There is healing power in the connections made between the body, heart, and mind.

I work with young adults, professionals, and couples dealing with issues related to anxiety, depression, grief and loss, self-esteem, relationship challenges, and significant life changes.
Are you feeling stuck and frustrated in life, wondering if there's any possibility of change? Are you finding it tough to manage your thoughts and challenging emotions, feeling like your usual coping strategies just aren't cutting it anymore? Trust me, I've been there. We all hit rough patches at some point—it's just part of life's journey. But here's the thing: I truly believe we all have this inner resilience and strength waiting to be tapped into, a capacity to evolve and a longing to live more authentically.

I work with children aged 7 and up, youth, and adults/parents. All persons and conversations are unique. Therefore the way I work mostly depends on what you might ask for help with. I always want treatment to be effective, so I aim to integrate a variety of evidence-based techniques into a plan that is uniquely suited to each client.

People seek out therapy because they cannot live their lives in the same way anymore. Perhaps there was a crisis, a feeling of despair, or a longing for something they have never had before. Therapy is a place to reflect on the past, explore present experiences and create change to have a different future. Therapy is not for the faint of heart, but with the right therapist, you will have a guide on your journey to knowing yourself more intimately.

For 30+ years I have been helping people struggling with relationships, as well as depression, anxiety, and meaning of life issues. My primary interest has always been in understanding what it is in the work we do together that actually makes a difference in helping the people I am working with, coupled with a clear recognition of the fundamental importance of the quality of our relationship together. Ultimately, I am not just trying to help people feel better, but to actually become better, recognizable both by them, and the people who matter in their lives. In the final analysis, you already have the answers. I help you find those

Grief Counsellors

How long does therapy take for grief?

There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?

Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?

Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?

Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
