Benefits of Medication-Assisted Treatment
Located in Anchorage, Alaska, Anchorage Comprehensive Treatment Center (CTC) offers medication-assisted treatment (MAT) for adults who are struggling with an opioid addiction. Medication-assisted treatment is different from other forms of outpatient care in that it incorporates the use of both prescription medication and counseling. Medications used in MAT have shown to decrease the severity of withdrawal symptoms that often occur when someone stops using opioids, allowing participants to function in their day-to-day lives. This includes the time they spend in counseling, which addresses the behavioral, emotional, and social aspects of addiction. During these sessions, adults can better understand their past choices, address negative emotions, and make lifestyle changes that can lead to long-term recovery. Receiving MAT also makes people less likely to seek out illicit drugs and provides them with positive coping mechanisms. With effective medication and counseling, individuals can discover that there is hope for a better tomorrow.
What to Expect
At Anchorage CTC, we realize that everyone responds to MAT differently. That’s why it’s important for us to identify the best medication and therapies for you. To get a clearer picture of your needs, a member of our team will assess your medical history, current struggles, and goals for treatment. Based on the information we gather, you may be prescribed a medication such as methadone, buprenorphine, or Suboxone. These medications have proved to be safe and effective when administered and monitored closely by a healthcare professional. Along with a prescription for medication, your care team will provide personalized counseling that includes individual and group sessions. These sessions can give you the opportunity to identify the root cause of your struggles with opioid addiction, learn important information about the recovery process, speak with others about their experiences, and develop strategies to avoid future relapse.
Our Comprehensive Treatment Center
The team of professionals at Anchorage CTC is dedicated to providing treatment in a safe and supportive environment. We encourage each patient to play an active role in their own recovery by fully engaging in therapy sessions, embracing the challenges they are facing, and asking questions that can help improve their treatment outcomes. We recognize the courage it takes to seek treatment for an opioid addiction, and we’re here to help whenever you are ready. If you have questions about our MAT services or are ready to begin the admissions process, a member of our team is available to assist you.
