My name is Alicia Godels-Blackshere. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), working with clients in the state of West Virginia by way of Telehealth. I specialize in working with adolescents and adults who struggle with post-traumatic stress disorder, grief, anger, stress, oppositional defiance disorder, anxiety, and depression. I work with a variety of approaches, including Psychodynamic, Person-Centered Therapy, Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.

I am devoted to helping people cope with situations in daily living. Harmony is an outpatient mental health care provider dedicated to serving West Virginia and the local Wheeling area. At our Wheeling clinic we provide a broad array of services including psychotherapy, child & adolescent therapy, child & adolescent psychiatry, adult psychiatry, medication management, and TMS therapy. TMS therapy, also known as Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation, is an effective, non-invasive, low-risk treatment that has shown success in treating major depressive disorder and other forms of treatment resistant depression.

Graduated with a MSW and certification in clinical mental health from the University of Pittsburgh in 2014. I specialize in working with youth and adults who are experiencing mental health symptoms, PTSD, addiction, and/ or behavioral issues. I also work with couples and families to help them make changes that allow them to effectively communicate, work through conflicts in a skilled way and be able to be genuinely affectionate with each other.

I have had the pleasures of working in different areas of the mental health field including domestic violence, sexual assault, drug and alcohol, and LGBTQIA+. I have been drawn to work with teens and young adults who deal with symptoms of Chronic Illnesses, Bipolar, Borderline Personality Disorder, Addiction, Anxiety, and Depression. I use Acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT). This is an action-oriented where individuals learn to stop avoiding, denying, and struggling with their inner emotions. They accept that these deeper feelings are natural responses to certain situations that should not prevent them from moving.

Being listened to can be life's greatest compliment. Once heard, we can be understood. Once understood, we can acquire direction. Combined with the work of counseling sessions, personal and life goals are achieved. With the integration of thoughts, feelings, and behaviors we become empowered.
