While each client has unique needs, my approach is Person-centered and Humanistic. I typically use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Motivational Interviewing techniques; however, I have an eclectic approach overall. I sometimes draw interventions from Brief Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. I also believe it is important to be multifaceted since therapy is not one-size-fits-all, so therapy will be an assimilation of different techniques that are catered to client needs.

As a LPC, I have been gifted to operate as a Counselor and I do not take my gift lightly. My goal is to be the voice for those that have never been allowed to speak up for themselves, those that have never realized the beauty they possess and especially those that have never realized their full potential in life. Providing a safe space for clients to reflect on the past while working toward future goals is critical in the work I do. I take pride in building relationships by listening to each individual's story and empowering them to re-frame their narrative and work toward healing on their terms and timelines. I specialize in working with teens and adolescents, individuals who have been involved in the criminal justice system, and also those who have experienced trauma or are working through grief and loss.

Life situations can often burden us leaving us feeling overwhelmed and hopeless which can contribute to increased anxiety and disturbance in sleeping patterns. My specialty revolves around individual and family systems therapy which includes a unique approach to couples therapy (marriage counseling), life transitions, children, adolesecents and family of origin issues. Through my continuing post graduate training I have developed a behavioral, relational, and psychdynamic psychotheraputic approach to assist in allivating these patterns by enhancing communication styles, negotiating skills and problem solving techniques.

My hope in therapy is that I might help you find a position of personal power, where you begin to face and conquer anxieties that may have kept you from fully enjoying life. There is so much beauty in human resiliency, and it is this attribute that makes it unnecessary for us to continue to dwell in past trauma, and gives us permission to find happiness. It is my belief that you were born to find a state of true, lasting happiness, and that you are not only capable, but deserving of this, because you are human.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor (LPC-S), Registered Play Therapist Supervisor (RPT-S) certified early childhood–12th grade special education teacher and certified school counselor. I have my master’s degree in counseling and my PhD in counselor education and supervision. I have provided counseling services for nearly 10 years and used ARET techniques for over 7 years as the creator and founder of Aquatic Relational Experiential Therapy, a mental health and play therapy technique used in water. Additionally, I have 12 years experience with solution focused, CBT, experiential, person-centered and play therapies, ASD.
