My approach is relational, combined with my training in somatic, parts work, EMDR, and mindfulness skills.
At the heart of my practice lies the intersection of science and art, imbued with humor, care, and creativity. Perhaps you find yourself carrying a heavy weight on your shoulder or navigating your days with a tightness in your chest and lack of energy. It’s possible you’ve been prioritizing others’ needs and neglecting your own, or realizing you don’t recognize the script guiding your life. You might be carrying the burden of guilt and shame or finding that your relationships are not what you want them to be.

I enjoy working on relational issues of all kinds as well as life transitions, depression, anxiety, damaged self esteem, healing from trauma, attachment and commitment issues and parenting concerns.
As a psychotherapist, I see the strengths in others and always maintain hope and commitment to growth and development. With our relationship as the foundation, therapy can become a fascinating process of getting to know and develop one's true self, resulting in a greater sense of authenticity, vitality, connection and well-being. It's essential to find a therapist who is a good fit for you; my style is warm and involved, respectful and attentive. We will look for old patterns that are no longer working, and explore new possibilities within the safe confines of the therapy room.

Adults, couples, adolescents and children need a safe and trusting environment to facilitate the process of insight and change, and to boost their self esteem. I provide a warm, empathetic goal-oriented approach where families can explore their feelings, work on interpersonal relationships, and consider options for growth, and emotional well being. All family members play a role and benefit from the therapeutic process. As we work together, I strategize with family members about constructive ways to navigate the complex meanings of relationships and to generate new ways of ensuring family harmony and relational effectiveness.

I draw primarily from acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), psychodynamic relational therapy, and attachment theory to help you tune inward to better understand your relationship with yourself and those around you.
I believe all people who walk into therapy have experienced personal challenges, which at some point have left them feeling stuck or alone. My hope is to join you as you navigate suffering and move through life’s challenging moments together. I aim to create a warm and nurturing therapy space, meeting you where you are, so you can feel cared for and seen by me. No matter what struggle you are facing- anxiety, relationship stress, life transitions, recovering from trauma, family conflict, health problems, self-esteem, or identity issues- I am confident we can find a path forward together. I work with adult individuals and couples.

I help clients with many types of difficulties including anxiety, depression, work stress, culture and identity issues, adult ADHD, trauma, and social/ relational problems with partners, friends, and family. Further, I have experience working with young and older adults, college students, high-level professionals, and executives.

I am a psychotherapist with experience providing individual and group counseling, specifically with adolescents, young adults, and new mothers. I have been effective working with clients across several cultural backgrounds. I use multiple approaches while working with my clients, focusing on the "whole client" and concentrating on building a strong rapport through my engagement skills. I believe therapy works best when there is a strong, trusting relationship between client and therapist. I provide a safe, supportive, calming and judgement-free environment for my clients.

My greatest strength is engaging clients, making them feel comfortable with me and the theraputic process right off the bat. I create an environment of trust, lack of judgment, empathy, and most importantly hope. Once trust between myself and the client has been established, I challenge clients to reach beyond their comfort zone. In my office, which is a nurturing environment, I can expose patients who have obsessive, anxious, depressed, or self destructive thoughts to other ways of being and seeing the world. I work with clients of all ages (from 6 years to 60 years) to conquer fears and lead freer, more content lives.

As a psychologist with over 20 years of private practice experience, I understand what it means to commit to change and begin the process of therapy. I know that if you have reached out to me, you want to address whatever feeling or behavior is getting in your way and preventing you or a loved one from living fully and moving forward freely. My training includes psychodynamic, interpersonal and cognitive approaches, at both graduate and post-graduate levels, and my role is to listen and understand how best to tailor and apply what I have learned to what you need.

Relational Therapists

How does relational therapy work?

Relational therapy was developed by psychologist Jean Miller, whose ideas stressed that having strong connections with others encourages better health and well-being when compared with a lonely existence. Conversely, poor interpersonal relationships do not foster growth and learning. Relational therapy also encourages trust in others and patience with others, along with better communication and less conflict.

Is relational therapy evidence-based?

Relational therapy is not well-studied, and it may not be as effective in treating certain mental health conditions when compared with evidence-based treatments like cognitive behavioral or acceptance and commitment therapy. However, relational therapy uses techniques found in cognitive behavioral therapy as well as psychodynamic therapy, which are both well-studied with empirical research.

How long are people typically in relational therapy?

Clients may see improvement after a few weeks or months of therapy. Like cognitive behavioral therapy, relational therapy can reduce symptoms within 10 to 20 weeks, at 45 to 50 minutes once a week. But like any type of therapy, improvement depends on the person and the severity of the problem.

Does relational therapy work?

While no therapy type will work for everyone, some evidence suggests that this therapy can be effective. Relational therapy can help a person manage problematic relationships as well as the mental health conditions that accompany difficult relationships like depression or anxiety. This therapy type may offer benefits that are hard to measure but can be just as valuable—including feelings of higher self-worth or healthier connections with others.
