Life can be rough and its easy to get into a place where one may feel overwhelmed or stuck. Its hard to find solutions, make decisions, or find a path out and it's often helpful to talk to a genuine and supportive person that can help to untangle all the things that race through one's mind when we are in a tough spot.

Out of office 2/10-2/20 Where did your ideas about life come from? The rules, and ways of coping we are taught, may not be working. I love helping others to find their own road map in life. We will work through different strategies, systems, problem solving, coping skills and find the ones that work best for you and/or your family. Anxiety, depression, ADHD, life struggles, navigating relationships and family conflict are only some of the reasons to reach out for help. You are worth the effort! Let's create our own rules! Take the unmanageable, and make it manageable. How would it feel to thrive instead of just trying to survive?

Life is a process & change isn't easy. We can all benefit from gaining new perspectives. While you don't have control of the cards you're dealt, your power lies in how you respond. In addition to talk therapy, I'm also trained in art therapy, which can be incorporated if interested. Art therapy offers endless opportunities for self-expression & is helpful for working on internal issues & processing/releasing what may be difficult to put into words. Life is full of lessons & we can choose to use the challenges & problems we face as opportunities to grow & evolve. Therapy can instill a sense of hope to rise & thrive above dark times.

I have had the privilege of being able to help different people of all ages - children, adolescents, adults, older adults - in both the inpatient and outpatient settings. My aim has always been to provide caring, compassionate support that helps clients on their journey towards improving their quality of life despite the challenges they may face. It is worth noting, however, that I find that I work best with adult clients who present with depression, anxiety, LGBTQIA+ issues, and/or significant life issues or changes they may be experiencing.

Don't you love when your doctor tells you to "reduce the stress in your life". Life in general is stressful, right? Relationships can become stressful. Work can be stressful. Kids can be stressful. Anxiety, depression, anger, frustration, and lack of effective ways to cope will influence your need for counseling. Everyone needs someone to vent to and therapy provides you not only with a way to express your frustrations, but it also helps you learn how to cope better with the things that stress you out! Eliminating stress is impossible however learning better ways to cope is not and that is something I can help you work on.

Limited availability at this time! Explore how your childhood shaped your personality. Sorry parental figures, we’re going there. Stop asking yourself “what's wrong with me” it's more like “what's happened to me”. Motivate yourself and learn how to set realistic goals; ahem put down the cell phone and do something productive. Kick depression and anxiety in the you know what! Those two, popping up unannounced making it feel like you're suddenly walking through sludge – EW! Or, simply figure out how to tolerate the daily grind.

How can I find a therapist in Dallas?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

What type of therapist is right for me?

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
