Emotions can be overwhelming, in order to become more productive and positive in life we need to manage them. Therapy allows my clients to feel in control of their destiny, to regain vitality and a sense of purpose. As they work through difficult experiences, they will obtain a more balanced life with an attitude of "self-acceptance" and "flexibility". They feel revitalized and strengthened to face life's difficult situations. I also work with couples and adolescents. My clients can use their bodies and minds in a more effective coordinated way by learning techniques of relaxation and mental focus.

Hello, time traveler. I'm glad you made it here. I know there's a million other places you could be right now so I want to help you take a second to be here with me. Not at work tomorrow, not in the climate apocalypse and definitely not reliving that time in 5th grade when your yogurt exploded in your backpack because someone threw it down the street at the bus stop as the bus arrived. Ok. Now, that you're here, take a breath. Take another one. Feel the air flow in and out. Let that nagging voice that's pulling you from being here know that you hear it, and ask it to step aside for 30 seconds so that you can finish reading this.

People worry every day. Some worriers "worry all their lives." Excessive, non-productive WORRY may lead to symptoms seen in generalized anxiety disorder (GAD), irritability and depression. There may be misguided behavioral strategies or unresolved experiences that prevent more productive use of worry and subsequent self-esteem enhancement. I will help you understand your worrying behavior, learn about how to live with uncertainty and consider strategies and new behaviors you have not yet thought about. I pride myself in my ability to develop good working relationships with my clients, a crucial part of therapy.

Are you feeling anxious or overwhelmed? Stressed or defeated? Life seems complex in new and insurmountable ways these days. Many people struggle to find answers to problems they were never prepared for. I know it’s hard to acknowledge that we don’t know what to do. I understand the weight of asking yourself “Where do I go from here?” I support my clients by providing clarity on how their behavior and unresolved issues affect them in their daily lives. I help my clients slow down and understand what's going on cognitively and physically so that we can break cycles and create new strategies to start finishing unfinished business.

You’re my ideal client! I want to meet you wherever you are & journey with you to where you want to go. Ever pass people who look impossibly high-functioning/put together - makes you feel like you'll never get there? So many look in a mirror & wonder who’s staring back & how they became who they are now.  To understand you, we first have to understand the story you’ve created from the beginning.  Letting others into dark corners of your life, where hurt hides, can be scary & painful.  But, it’s in those moments where healing happens. My role, in your journey, is to stand beside you, in the darker places, & help you turn on a light

Specializing in relationships, sex, complex trauma, and body image issues, I guide individuals and couples through the somatic experiences underlying depression and anxiety, often rooted in deep loneliness. We emphasize trust-based relationships, exploring identity, and nurturing lasting connections. Developing an emotional vocabulary helps address fears of vulnerability and the burden of shame, restoring safety and resilience essential for navigating trauma and c-PTSD. This approach fosters enduring bonds towards healing, creating a space where you can explore and redefine your sense of self within meaningful relationships.

In my practice, I collaborate with my clients to build a safe and affirming therapeutic space from which we can explore difficult feelings and past experiences with curiosity and compassion. Music has played a central role in my life and allows me to incorporate creativity, deep listening, and playfulness into my therapy practice. I often use art and music as alternative forms of expression, understanding, and communication. I invite my clients to also bring their full selves to our sessions, weaving in humor, play, and their interests to enrich our work together.

Living as an ADHD or Autistic adult can be frustrating and overwhelming. You might feel out of step with the world or misunderstood. Why don’t people just say what they mean? Why can’t people respect your process just because it’s different? Why can’t you feel more at peace with your body, mind, and senses? Our minds are colorful and complex, yet we struggle in a world not tailored to our unique patterns. Adapting and masking our true selves to fit in can be exhausting. The constant need to adapt, the feeling of being misunderstood, and the search for a space where you can be your true self is a path you need not walk alone.

I am very fortunate to combine my three loves: people, psychology and dogs. Over the years my dogs have accompanied me to my office and have been of great therapeutic value and pleasure in their interaction with patients of all ages. Therapy is an exciting adventure in which therapist and patient agree to explore the patient's life, dreams, problems, fears, hopes and aspirations. As therapist it is my responsibility to guide: sometimes lead, share and always to jointly explore who the individual is. While everyones' therapy is different, therapy is the opportunity to pull ones' life together and develop the courage to change.

Teen Therapists

What does therapy for teenagers look like?

When a therapist works with a teenager, the pair will talk about what the teen is struggling with and explore solutions, which may involve interpersonal skills, coping strategies, medication, or lifestyle changes related to sleep, diet, and exercise. Different therapists employ different modalities, but most involve a combination of conversation and skill building.

How long does therapy for teenagers generally take to work?

There’s variability in teenagers’ experiences and challenges; some may begin to improve from therapy within a few weeks while others may take several months or longer. Teens can discuss their progress with their therapist periodically to assess how they’re improving and any changes to the treatment plan that could potentially accelerate that progress.

How do you encourage a teenager to go to therapy?

It’s helpful to express your concern and love while framing therapy as an opportunity to explore a tool that could help improve their life; just like they practice baseball or dance, now they can practice their emotional skills. Give your teen control over the process where you can—maybe by weighing in on choice of therapist and signaling that therapy involves confidentiality, so a parent need not know all that is discussed in sessions.

How do you prepare teens for therapy?

You can prepare your teenager for therapy by describing what the process will look like and setting expectations for timeline, if requested. You can explain that the first session may begin with an assessment phase, that they can describe their experiences but that the therapist will ask questions too, and that it may take time to feel comfortable opening up. Ask how they’re feeling about the process and answer any questions calmly and supportively.
