Examples of "Developmental - Barricades" include: anxiety, depression, panic attacks, trauma, addictions, interpersonal conflict, health concerns and stress related to caregiving.
My clinical training is in the area of Cognitive-Behaviorism & Task-Centered Therapy; I practice short-term Dimensional Solution-Based Therapy (DSBT). I am of the belief that DSBT psychotherapy is one of the most effective tools for change - as long as you are willing to make a change. The idea & responsibility for change can be overpowering. I see my role, as a Psychotherapist and Clinical Hypnotherapist, as a way to help you identify patterns in your life that you want to modify - act on...and act on them now. (Now working with a extended network of: Life Coaches, Energy Healers, Reiki & Yoga Masters & Recovery Coaches).

I have been in direct clinical practice since 1988 bringing a history of working effectively with those who feel lost: Anxiety, Depression, Trauma and having an experience of being emotionally "stuck" in patterns that seem to have a life of their own.
If you are seeking to regain who you once were, uncover who you know you could be, become who you want to be, build on who you already are, or all the above, we can do that together. Life is something that just is; we are what happens in it. I work with you to reclaim what may seem out of your control, to step back into the driver's seat of your own life. We all struggle at times and it is not about how strong or weak we are, but how much support we have.

Helping people help themselves. Adults and couples. Anxiety, depression, dependency, uncertain fears and specific symptoms. Conflict, school and job stress, trauma, bereavement. I draw on decades of experience (and was the Clinical Unit Administrator for two agencies). With empathy, time, and care, I help people to draw on their strengths to learn to be good communicators and effective problem-solvers and to gain a sense of control, meaning, and wholesome relatedness.

Anxiety, depression and trauma can be treated holistically. Often, people feel like they have different parts of themselves inside that are pulling in different directions. It can be challenging to sort through it all alone. If you are feeling depleted, tired, confused, or overwhelmed, a good therapist can help you slow down and put the pieces together. If you are feeling reactive and on edge or feeling like running away, or just plain shut down, good therapy can help you restore connection with yourself and others. And if you are feeling like traditional talk therapy is not enough, then you have definitely come to the right place!

Everything from life transitions, career issues, relationships, intimacy, trauma, depression and anxiety, as well as existential matters.
Therapy is about meaning making. I listen closely to my patients without judgment and without jumping to conclusions. My goal is to understand you on your own terms—free of any rigid diagnoses or other labels. I believe that the heart of this work resides in the therapeutic relationship itself, and to this end, I seek to build bridges of clarity and comfort between us. Our work together will consist of attempting to understand you in a holistic, depth-oriented manner. We will consider how your past might be influencing your present and examine how certain patterns in your life might not be serving you well.

His approach is trauma informed, dynamic, supportive and evidence based/informed.
Find your balance in life and restore your connection to your purpose. Entering therapy can be both an exciting and challenging time in one’s life. Many people enter the therapeutic process to deal with traumatic experiences, to cope with loss, transitions, and relationship stress. Others just want to discover new ways of dealing with old problems. My practice is here to help guide you through that journey. My therapeutic interventions focus on your relationship with the self, your partner(spouse), family members, children, and your work/vocation.

Does past trauma, worry, sadness, and/or anger prevent you from living fully in the present? If you are here, chances are you answered yes to one or all of the above. Life can be challenging; traumas and fears come in all forms and one is not more important than the next. People that connect with me are diverse and so are their reasons for seeking therapy.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
