My approach with my clients is collaborative, interactive, and respectful. I am an eclectic therapist because trauma affects each individual differently. I view the client as the expert on his/her journey and myself as a consultant or guide. I focus on releasing the shame and pain of the trauma/abuse using tools and approaches with which the client is most comfortable. Together we create as safe a space as possible so that this work may occur. I am a strong believer in skill building, empowerment and visibility as antidotes to shame, secrecy and victimization.

My approach to each person is to meet you where you are, address your symptoms, and empower you to become the full expression of who you are meant to be. I incorporate psychodynamic psychotherapy, family systems approaches, bodywork, mindfulness, and cognitive and behavioral strategies as appropriate. My philosophy is client-centered and trauma-informed.

I offer support and guidance to children, adolescents, families and individual adults utilizing my training and experience with family-systems and cognitive-behavioral therapies. In four plus decades of counseling a wide variety of people I have learned a great deal about the human condition and how the psychological, physical, familial, and social contexts in which we live can cause our lives to feel like an overwhelming fight for survival. Hi, I'm Jen. I'm a clinical social worker who has worked with children, adolescents and parents for twenty years. My goal in each session is to make my patients feel comfortable and identify their feelings. Each session begins with an emotional check-in and an update of what has happened in life since the last session. From there, together we can determine what the specific goal of the session will be, or continue to expand on skills and strategies introduced earlier. I believe in the need to be flexible depending on what the needs are in the moment of the patient. I craft a judgment free zone to help people be their best self.
