In my practice I work with two groups of people, couples and Men/Adolescent Boys. When working with couples we focus on building trust and safety while exploring past hurts, marital conflict, parenting struggles, resentment, affairs and addiction. I also enjoy working with couples who are newly approaching marriage with pre-marital counseling. When working with Men/Adolescent boys we explore grief and loss, life transitions, anxiety relationships, betrayal, depression, ADD/ADHD, personal failure, divorce, sexual struggles, infidelity, pornography, drugs and alcohol addiction.

Dr. Broussard is a licensed clinical psychologist, US Air Force veteran, and graduate faculty member/assistant professor of clinical psychology with treatment expertise in a wide variety of issues including PTSD, depression, anxiety, addiction, stress, serious mental illness, and complicated bereavement. He is also skilled in testing and assessment of learning disorders (ADHD, dyslexia), intellectual functioning, and personality. Dr. Broussard is licensed in Mississippi and is accepting new clients.

My clients struggle with low self worth and lack of self-acceptance, feelings of loss of control and loneliness. I help them realize their worth as fully-functioning, multi-dimensional human beings.

As an LCSW, I work from a strengths-based perspective. I strongly believe in the social work ideal of unconditional positive regard and the potential in every person to learn and grow at any stage in life. I work with a variety of therapeutic models-including Mindful Self-Compassion, CBT, IFS, and EMDR-to help my clients achieve their goals and live healthier lives.

Life is hard. And when we feel isolated and alone it can feel unbearable. We don't have to endure life feeling lost or alone. We were created for connection and relationships, with others and ourselves. Painful experiences, trauma, unhealthy relationships, shame, grief, etc, can create barriers that keep us from experiencing the very things that we deeply long to experience. Being vulnerable and sharing these experiences is scary, especially when we find it hard to trust. I understand this fear, and I personally know being vulnerable is one of the most courageous things we can do, and a necessary avenue to experience healing.

As we travel this path through life, we encounter both internal and external challenges. Therefore, I meet the client where they are upon the first meeting. Each stage of life and each individual is unique. I take an eclectic approach to address my client’s needs for what I assess will be most effective and also comfortable. Therapy is a directed process to move forward to live life as optimally as possible .

I provide assessment and treatment options for adults seeking assistance with mental health or medically-related concerns. My practice, Clinical & Forensic Neuropsychology Services of MS, specializes in the psychological and neuropsychological evaluation of cognitive, emotional, and psychological conditions in adults and older adults. I also provide outpatient psychotherapy for a variety of concerns such as depression, anxiety, adjustment to stressors (e.g., health decline, bereavement), and coping with chronic medical illnesses. Therapy treatment plans are individualized, based upon the best available research for treating a particular condition, and time-limited (typically 5-15 sessions).

Every day, therapists work with clients who have experienced past trauma, grief or loss, addiction(s), food issues, lasting effects from abuse, or other life altering challenges. I am skilled at helping trauma victims learn to "tell their story" in a safe and non-judgmental environment and guide them towards healing. It is my mission to assist clients in seeing dramatic improvements in their ability to trust, forgive, recover, and learn to move forward with their lives.

I believe in the healing power of safe relationships. I believe this because I have experienced being healed through therapeutic relationships. I have a Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy from Reformed Theological Seminary. I have additional training in Sex Therapy, Sexual Addiction, Trauma and Abuse and Sexuality Issues. I am trained in and working toward certification in EMDR. I have also taken the Gottman Couples Communication Course. I work with people who have been sexually abused or assaulted as either children or adults, those with depression, grief, anxiety, stress, trauma (civilian and military) , sexual dysfunction,sexual addiction, sexual pain disorders as well those with infertility. I also work with people with genetic disorders as I have Masters in Medical Genetics.

I am a Blue Cross Blue Shield provider. One thing I've learned both by counseling others and being counseled is that we cannot shame ourselves into the person we want to be. I believe if we approach ourselves with curiosity, compassion, and gentleness, we will be surprised at what we will learn, what we can accomplish, and how we can heal. I also believe in the connective power of humor and storytelling within the therapeutic environment. I commonly work with clients dealing with: abuse, trust and betrayal, communication breakdowns, complicated family dynamics, grief, shame, anxiety, depression, and PTSD.
