I believe the most important factor to success in therapy is the therapeutic relationship. Finding the right fit is essential. My goal is to provide a safe, supportive environment to address your specific needs. I work with both adults and children, as young as preschool age. I utilize a variety of evidence-based therapy techniques and activities. In order to be successful, one on one therapy is provided at your child’s social, emotional, and developmental level. I actively support and collaborate with parents. I work to develop a relationship with adults to identify their strengths and goals. My goal is for you to feel successful.

Throughout the course of our lives, we all face challenges that may require a little extra help to navigate through. I strive to provide a very non-judgmental and supportive environment in which you can identify your needs, achieve your goals, and overcome the obstacles you currently face. I am extremely passionate about individualized therapy and will set up a customized treatment plan made just for you once we've discussed your needs. I provide therapy in a safe, unbiased, and nonjudgmental environment. I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor in the state of Kansas. I have a MS in Counseling Psychology, a graduate certification in Child and Adolescent Psychology from Avila University, and a BS in Developmental Psychology from the University of Kansas. I work with all age groups and specialize in Anxiety, Depression, Adjustment disorders, and Trauma.

As said by Jim Rohn, “Your life does not get better by chance, it gets better by change.” We all experience personal setbacks from time to time. Unfortunately, life does not and will never operate completely according to our own plans. When experiencing a setback or situation that requires a different approach, there is absolutely no shame in reaching out for assistance. The human spirit is one of survival and we all have the ability to persevere. It is my belief we are not defined by our weakness, personal struggles, and/or current circumstances.

Being a parent is a joy like none other. This may however become challenging if your child (especially a teenager) battles emotional, behavioral, eating disorders, lack of confidence or addiction problems. Teenagers with these issues often argue, have hard time expressing emotions, have disruptive behavior, sudden change in eating habits and conscious of their body image. They might resort to use of alcohol or other drugs to escape struggles. This does not mean you are a bad parent; it is just a difficult time for your family. You just need someone to walk you through during this difficult time.

Families face a multitude of stressors today which can pull relationships apart. Helping families, couples, and teenagers/adolescents identify and cope with these stressors is my passion. If you are facing issues as a family or couple, or have concerns with your teenager/adolescent, my approach to therapy may be what you are looking for. I use a strength based approach to therapy, focusing on solutions to improve communication and reduce conflict and stress in your relationships. Having a safe, relaxed place for clients to work on issues is important to me.

Your teen looks like they have it all together, but you know deep down something is “off.” They aren’t as interested in attending school activities or hanging out with friends as they were. They avoid discussing their daily school activities. Things that hadn’t been prior issues (what to wear to school) suddenly create come-aparts. At times they are hanging on by a thread, and so are you! The anxiety causes stomach aches, and they may even suffer the occasional panic attack. As their parent, you would like to see them happy, healthy, and enjoying this season of life. However, right now, that is only happening in small doses.

I believe a positive relationship with your therapist is one of the most important factors in the success of treatment. I ask you to bring an open mind and commitment to your journey to each session. Respecting where the individual is in their own process as well as respect for the individual who walks through the door, is of up most importance to me.
