As a Holistic Psychotherapist, I blend EFT, Somatic Experiencing, Motivational Interviewing, Parts Work/IFS, Expressive Arts, Mindfulness, Narrative, & Solution-Focused Therapy with a Humanistic approach.
It's one of the most disheartening experiences to sit with a therapist who doesn't understand you or your lived experience. Somehow you wind up talking in circles, never getting to the root or the heart of the issue, never finding resolution or feeling better. I am here to listen, to care & to hear that essence beneath your words which language can't always capture. I am here to help you see what you may not be seeing clearly. I am here to help you connect to your body & feel your wholeness. Hi, my name is Vee. I’m a Holistic Psychotherapist & it'd be my joy to support you in reaching your mind-body-spirit-soul & relationship goals!

A trauma-informed perspective is always present in my person-centered practice, and I have experience in existential, humanistic, and psychodynamic approaches.
My approach to therapy begins by recognizing that good mental health is different for each person, and each person’s therapeutic goals will necessarily be unique. I believe that deep down we know what we need, and much of the healing work in therapy is in connecting to this authentic and deep knowledge of the self, learning to trust it, and working to overcome barriers to living our best lives. I’ve worked with people of all ages, but I have a special interest in working with young adults, helping them navigate the sometimes trickly road into independence and thriving.

My treatment approaches are: Attachment Focused EMDR, psychodynamic, relational, humanistic and positive psychology.
Are you struggling to feel like "yourself" again? Are you unable to feel settled, unable to keep up with your schedule or commitments? Are you feeling upset or more emotional for no apparent reason? Crises, be they large or small, disorient and leave us feeling uncertain, less able to rely upon and function like "ourselves." Growth and change are among the most positive and humanly adaptive qualities and yet the most uncertain and difficult experiences in life. At such times we want unbiased and reliable support to help restore our sense of self and help make positive choices for our lives.

My approach is very humanistic.
I believe I was born a therapist. Caring and understanding others have always been natural parts of me. I believe each of us is born with the inner guidance to grow into the best version of ourselves. But there are many challenges along the way that interfere with that process. Childhood trauma, loss and painful circumstances, make us doubt and lose sight of our inner guidance. We begin to unconsciously work against ourselves; the result is pain in the form of emotional distress, unhealthy choices and hurtful relationships. But we have the ability and even an obligation to ourselves and family to heal and rediscover our true selves.

Depending on the client, I use an eclectic approach that varies from CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy), DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy), humanistic and interpersonal counseling theories.
I work best with motivated individuals who will work with me and be courageous enough to be honest about their thoughts, feelings, and fears. My clients are expected to do assignments, readings, and offer feedback. I thoroughly enjoy seeing the progress that a child or an adult can make through self discovery that counseling offers. Ultimately we are the masters of our own lives, and it is by allowing the individual to unlock his or her own capabilities and potential, that the therapist is truly a success.

My name is Jenna and I work with adults and teenagers to help them grow in whatever direction they feel is most genuine for them. Whether in work, school, relationships, or our own personal worlds, we often fall into patterns of being that serve a purpose, but may not feel fulfilling. We might cast aside our true feelings, values, and identities to protect ourselves from pain or judgment, which can cause us to lose sight of our authentic selves. I am passionate about providing an environment of warmth, empathy, and exploration to help my clients better understand and honor their true selves.

Getting support is more important than ever. I help clients adjust to change, including loss, overcome difficulties with relationships of all kinds, address attachment issues, PTSD, and anxiety. I work collaboratively—a strong connection between therapist and client is the foundation of good therapy. Listening deeply to clients, I draw on 40 years as a somatic practitioner (incl. 10 years as a massage therapist) and use intuition, empathy, compassion, and humor to help guide the process. I integrate proven and effective mind-body techniques to alleviate chronic stress and pain and achieve wellness through life-style changes.

Humanistic Therapists

How does humanistic therapy work?

One tenet of humanistic therapy is that people are good. The humanistic approach is concerned with a person’s ability to accept oneself. It likewise encourages a person to overcome self-criticism and self-defeating tendencies, as well as disapproval from others. This approach also emphasizes self-actualization and treating an individual as a whole person. A foundation of this therapy type: The patient is the expert in their life, and treatment often takes the individual’s lead.

Is humanistic therapy evidence-based?

Humanistic therapy is an evidence-based practice. Research has found that humanistic therapy can lead to significant improvement, and for some people it can be just as effective as other therapies, such as Cognitive behavioral therapy. The benefits of humanistic therapy are enduring.

How long does humanistic therapy last?

The goal of humanistic therapy is to understand a person’s day-to-day experiences. While sessions can be short-term and last over a few months, therapy can sometimes continue beyond that and last up to a year or more. And because patients learn the theory behind humanistic therapy during treatment, they can also practice its tenets throughout life after therapy sessions have been completed.

Is humanistic therapy effective?

According to research, many patients find success with humanistic therapy. Researchers note that the therapy is particularly useful in addressing poor self-esteem and self-sabotage, as well as improving conditions including anxiety and depression. Improvements in problem areas can be long standing, as individuals can continue working on themselves by using the tools they’ve learned during treatment.
