I see a variety of populations, all of which include: Children/youth/families counseling, couples, addiction/substance abuse, behavioral problems, adoption, brown children/youth/adults, grief, anxiety, depression, life stages/obstacles, stress, body image issues, eating disorders, and advocacy.
Hello! Within my first few years of college, I finally figured out what I wanted to do as a career. I realized I wanted to help people through their own life obstacles, trauma, life stages, and more! I want to help others with their mental health and make their world a better place. As I continue to learn and grow throughout my professional career, I want to work with a variety of populations and ages. To me, counseling is a journey of being honest with who you are and who you want to present to the world. I believe that it is an honor to be able to embark on this journey with you and to share unique experiences of ourselves.

Hi, I'm Emily. I am an Art Therapist and a licensed Counselor. I work within a relational-cultural framework, which is based on the idea that disconnection is a source of suffering. We live in a time where the ability to connect is at our fingertips, but many of us still struggle with feelings of anxiety, depression, and isolation. In my practice, I strive to foster meaningful and healthy connections with my clients and support them in learning new ways to move through the world. I help clients address current and past challenging life experiences, and always take into consideration each persons unique cultural background.

I help clients work on those things that are getting in the way, such as, problematic emotional, behavioral or relational patterns, stress, and symptoms of depression and anxiety. Life is really hard at times and it can help to have some extra support, especially, if you are feeling alone, isolated or finding that others don't really understand. Do you ever feel like it’s Groundhog Day? Every day seems exactly like the one before. You wake up, work, eat, sleep - lather, rinse, repeat. We’re all a little different than we were pre-pandemic. Perhaps you’re taking care of aging parents, your kids, trying to keep your marriage together. But what about you? Who takes care of you? You thought working from home would be great, but now you feel isolated and alone. You have people you can talk to, but you don’t want to feel like you’re “complaining”. You just want to stop feeling as though you’re on autopilot. You’re just… so… tired. You know what? I feel exhausted sometimes, too.

Grief Therapists
How long does therapy take for grief?
There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.
When should you seek therapy for grief?
Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.
Can grief be managed without therapy?
Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.
What happens if grief is left untreated?
Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
