I view my clients as fellow human beings in search of some type of change. For one reason or another, they feel stuck or unable to get where they want. Together we work towards growth by identifying the issues involved, establishing hopes and goals, and increasing awareness of recurring patterns that maintain dysfunction. I find that often these patterns were somehow adaptive, but are now "outdated" for life's current situation. As awareness of one's desires, perceptions, fears, and strengths increase, doors often begin to open. There are more options and more opportunities for change and connection with others.

One of my favorite things about this process is getting to know you and your past experiences in hopes that you might get to know more about yourself and the person you want to be going forward. My style is engaged, honest and relational. I offer a warm environment where we can address sensitive topics at a comfortable pace. We will work collaboratively and creatively to address unwanted patterns and behaviors that might have you feeling stuck. We may explore new strategies for things like coping, communicating and connecting in an effort to strengthen your sense of self-worth, relationships and quality of life.

The quote, “Every person should find out before they die what they are running from and to, and why,” will be the foundation for our work together. This “running” often results in anxiety, depression, and other negative emotions and behaviors. I am a counselor who is passionate about seeing individuals, couples and families come to a place of healing and wholeness. Regardless of what has happened, it is never too late to have a fresh start and a new beginning. I help people discover how life experiences have shaped their thoughts and behavior. We then work together to address these issues and how to manage them in successful ways.

My psychotherapy practice consists of individual, couple, and group therapy. I work with people wanting to improve their relationships and find more connection with others in their life. The focus in our work is on communication and helping people put into words what they are thinking and feeling so that they are understood and can understand others better. The most common issues people bring are depression, anxiety, health, and work issues. I work with ages ranging from about 18 and older. I have a specialty in group psychotherapy and run ongoing groups that are mixed gender and meet weekly.

Soren Kierkegaard once wrote, “Life can only be understood backwards; but it must be lived forwards”. In many ways this is the essence of the work I engage in with those who are seeking to make sense of their lives and circumstances and begin to examine the thoughts and behaviors that have kept them feeling stuck and frustrated. I believe that every person has many complex parts that work together to produce unique insights into how they can journey forward, they need only be given the tools and support to explore them.

I am very passionate about clients and aids them through a healing process by focusing on three key areas: Body, Mind, and Soul. I provided clinical services for the past 12 years to children, adolescents, adults, families, and couples in both an individual and group format.
