I view my clients as fellow human beings in search of some type of change. For one reason or another, they feel stuck or unable to get where they want. Together we work towards growth by identifying the issues involved, establishing hopes and goals, and increasing awareness of recurring patterns that maintain dysfunction. I find that often these patterns were somehow adaptive, but are now "outdated" for life's current situation. As awareness of one's desires, perceptions, fears, and strengths increase, doors often begin to open. There are more options and more opportunities for change and connection with others.

One of my favorite things about this process is getting to know you and your past experiences in hopes that you might get to know more about yourself and the person you want to be going forward. My style is engaged, honest and relational. I offer a warm environment where we can address sensitive topics at a comfortable pace. We will work collaboratively and creatively to address unwanted patterns and behaviors that might have you feeling stuck. We may explore new strategies for things like coping, communicating and connecting in an effort to strengthen your sense of self-worth, relationships and quality of life.

I am a counselor who is passionate about seeing individuals, couples and families come to a place of healing and wholeness. Regardless of what has happened, it is never too late to have a fresh start and a new beginning. I help people discover how life experiences have shaped their thoughts and behavior. We then work together to address these issues and how to manage them in successful ways.

My psychotherapy practice consists of individual, couple, and group therapy. I work with people wanting to improve their relationships and find more connection with others in their life. The focus in our work is on communication and helping people put into words what they are thinking and feeling so that they are understood and can understand others better. The most common issues people bring are depression, anxiety, health, and work issues. I work with ages ranging from about 18 and older. I have a specialty in group psychotherapy and run ongoing groups that are mixed gender and meet weekly.

Soren Kierkegaard once wrote, “Life can only be understood backwards; but it must be lived forwards”. In many ways this is the essence of the work I engage in with those who are seeking to make sense of their lives and circumstances and begin to examine the thoughts and behaviors that have kept them feeling stuck and frustrated. I believe that every person has many complex parts that work together to produce unique insights into how they can journey forward, they need only be given the tools and support to explore them.

Issues that I specialize in treating are depression, anxiety, eating disorders, grief/loss, divorce, parenting issues, and adolescent issues.
Sad, exhausted, tired, worried, unhappy, fearful. I often hear these words in and out of the counseling room from both the young and old. Our world around us can challenge our ways of thinking, feeling, and living, in ways we often do not like. Sprout Counseling works allow you the space to process your feelings, and provide you with the tools to manage the emotions you experience.

We all experience transitions throughout our lives — big and small, planned and unplanned, and some are harder than others. The death of a loved one, loss/change of employment, divorce/problems with relationships (mate, parents, children), or other events. A life transition is any change or adjustment that impacts your life in a significant way. If you find yourself experiencing a high degree of distress during a life transition that is significantly impacting your mood, ability to work, social interactions, or any other important life area and simply don't know what to do next, I'm here to assist you through the process.

Divorce, job loss, chronic illness - these all can cause tremendous distress. Even daily stressors, the ones you think you can handle, can become overwhelming and throw your life and health out of balance. Therapy can help! Therapy can also be highly effective in treating anxiety, depression, and other emotional disorders (and reduce the chance the same problem will return in the future). I have been licensed as a Psychologist (Ph.D.) since 1993 and I am currently in private practice in Buford, Georgia. I offer services for adults and adolescents (18+) using a variety of approaches (primarily cognitive-behavioral psychotherapy).

It’s truly incredible when a person sees that there’s something inside them that they want to work on, and then they go after that. It’s incredible that you’re here, that you’re searching. The people who want to be the best version of themselves, who want to break “generational cycles” and work on their mental health so that they can pass down health, wholeness, peace, and light to the next generation - those are the superheroes. Our mental health is our foundation for how we relate to ourselves and world around us after all - Our God, ourselves, and others.
