I am Zatascha Burton, a Licensed Professional Counselor and as a therapist, I stay educated about best practices for working with my clients. Currently accepting new clients ages 6+ for individual and family therapy- I enjoy working with people who are experiencing challenges with life stressors, anxiety, depression, trauma, bipolar disorders and substance use disorders. Experiencing any of these can leave you feeling overwhelmed, exhausted, and disconnected. It can feel impossible to find a way out on your own. Many people find that when they try to reach out for help that they can’t connect with anyone who actually takes the time to listen and understand. I believe that taking a collaborative approach and staying focused on what matters to you is the key.

I specialize in EMDR, DBT, and CBT therapies for the treatment of trauma, Borderline Personality Disorder, depression, and anxiety.

I have grown a passion for working with young adults experiencing so many of life’s new challenges and changes, as they transition in college and their new lives after graduation. It is my passion to support you through the many challenging phases of life​.​ ​During my time in practice, I​'​ve had the opportunity to work with a diverse client population ranging from​ ages​ ​5​-​65, addressing a wide range of presenting problems in the clinical setting​​ including but not limited to: Depression, Anxiety, Life and Career Transitions, Relationships, Men's Issues, ​Substance Abuse, ​and Trauma.​ With all the rapid changes occuring in the world I understand the need to have empathetic, compassionate, and non judgemental support.

Providing therapy for individuals, adolescents, couples, and families, I use a variety of therapeutic approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Solution Focused Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR) and Interpersonal Therapy (IPT).

I love helping people bounce back from challenging times in their lives. I believe strongly in balancing self, family, and work and enjoy helping people find their own balance!

Finding a counselor can be a big, scary step in our life. I aim to help that step feel a little less scary. As your counselor, my hope is to help you find the best path to becoming who you want to be and overcome obstacles in your way. I have experience working with clients 14 years old through adulthood with a variety of presenting concerns such as past and present trauma, life changes and transitions, pregnancy and postpartum, and emotional regulation.

Through life’s transitions such as school or workplace stress, to relationship and family conflicts life is full of challenges that are sometimes out of our control. The pressure to manage and cope with these stressors can severely impact or be detrimental to ones mental health. Clients experiencing depression can make daily life activities seem unbearable, and it can significantly change how we see things almost as if wearing gloomy specs and disconnected from our environments.

You’ve likely arrived here because you’ve been in a dark place. Perhaps you’re tired of carrying around the burden of your trauma, grief or depression. Maybe you’re feeling disconnected from yourself or your loved ones. You don’t have to stay stuck in your old patterns and you don’t have to heal alone. I work with adults, teens, and children and use my warmth and humor to create a space in which you feel heard and prepared to grow. I consider therapy to be a process that is intertwined with social justice and therefore take care in creating a space that can safely house all my clients’ intersecting identities.

I come to practice as clinical therapist through many life experiences which were, at times anxiety provoking, heart wrenching, and overwhelming. By reaching out for my own personal therapy I was I able to learn many wonderful tools that have helped me navigate all of my life struggles. As I therapist, I want to help you learn how to navigate life's challenges and to learn to live your best life.
