I am a trained ART Therapist. Accelerated Resolution Therapy is a form of psychotherapy with roots in existing evidence-based therapies. Which has shown to achieve benefits much more rapidly usually within few sessions? Clients with depression, anxiety, panic attacks, (PTSD) substance abuse, sexual abuse and many other physical conditions. My ideal client is one who is striving to make a change. In order for this to occur, there must be cooperation and mutual respect between all parties. I will also work with those who are unable to express their feelings & thoughts and who have built these up due to the stigma regarding mental health.

Sylphia Lindsay, LMHC, CAP, CTT, also trained in somatic experience (SE). My philosophy is that counseling is an important aspect of personal growth for all persons. I believe that in a person's journey, growth is about guidance - seeing yourself through a different lens. That can be found spiritually, through self-help, individual therapy, etc. I believe the growth starts within the person, and therapy is the assistance that guides you to the higher sense of awareness. That higher sense of awareness allows you to achieve higher goals.

Subsequent sessions will build upon this foundation, fostering a progressive trajectory in your therapeutic journey. My role is to provide empathetic support and guidance as you navigate this process.

I am committed to providing a sanctuary for healing and restoration where clinical excellence meets compassionate care. I believe in a holistic approach to wellness that acknowledges the entire person — body, mind, and spirit. My practice is dedicated to offering the highest standards of pharmacotherapy and clinical medicine, harmoniously integrated with pastoral counseling, to support not just the alleviation of symptoms but the pursuit of wholeness and well-being. We are guided by the scriptural truth that every individual is fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14), deserving care that honors the intricate design of the human constitution. In alignment with biblical wisdom, we advocate for a therapeutic approach that is patient-centered, as we hold fast to the teaching that each person is a temple of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:19-20), warranting respect and dignity in every aspect of care. As a pastoral counselor, I aim to embody these qualities, creating an environment of empathy and understanding. Pastoral care counseling instills hope, grounded in the transformative power of faith.

Drug Abuse Therapists

How do substance and drug recovery or rehabilitation programs work?

In inpatient programs, individuals live in a facility with other clients in recovery; in outpatient programs, individuals reside at home. These facilities are staffed with healthcare professionals including physicians, nurses, psychologists, counselors, and psychotherapists. Staff often also includes people who have recovered themselves, serving as mentors and guides. These programs may use abstinence, harm reduction, detoxification, psychotherapy, and other methods.

How do 12-step programs combined with psychotherapy work?

Members of 12-step programs help each other reach abstinence and work to maintain it. These programs promote complete change in the individual’s emotional, mental, physical, and even spiritual perspectives. Some programs require that new members attend 90 meetings in 90 days. Many people do attend these programs in conjunction with their work in psychotherapy; the combination of therapy along with 12-step can be extremely effective.

How does harm reduction combined with psychotherapy work?

According to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, harm reduction prevents death, injury, disease, overdose, and substance misuse. People who choose harm reduction for substance use reduce the amount of drugs they consume. It is not abstinence-based like a 12-step program, but combining harm reduction with psychotherapy proves to be effective for many people.

Are there specific medications for substance and drug use?

There are medications approved to treat substance use disorder—such as buprenorphine, methadone, naltrexone, and acamprosate. These medications do help people cope with substance use as well as avoid the problem of relapse. Naltrexone can help reduce cravings, methadone is an opioid medication used to treat severe pain, and acamprosate may help ease symptoms like poor sleep and anxious feelings.
