I offer individual therapy to adults who are experiencing general anxiety, social anxiety, panic symptoms, and obsessive compulsive disorder. I work primarily from a cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) perspective. I also provide supportive psychotherapy for adults who are experiencing stress from a significant change in their life, such as a recent romantic break up, new job, or moving to a new city or town.

I am a licensed psychologist specializing in care for individuals and families. My approach is flexible to meet the needs of my patients and rooted in years of clinical experience, psychology training and research. Areas of speciality include working with Eating Disorders, Substance Abuse, Trauma and Personality Disorders. I am also intensively trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy and am part of a weekly DBT consultation team providing adherent outpatient care. Currently, I run multiple DBT skills groups.

I am originally from Maine and opened my first private practice in Connecticut where I raised my two children. After some time we admitted defeat with the winters of New England and moved to Florida so my husband could follow his career as a US Marshal. I continue to love working with patients while enjoying time with my family, the beach, reading and exploring new places and cuisine. I am originally from Long Island and Queens but now reside in Florida after my father, like most of us, decided he couldn’t go through one more snowstorm. Dr. Alcalay received his Doctorate and Masters in Clinical Psychology at CAU in Miami, Florida. He conducted research on Teaching Responsible Behaviors to Adolescents, (TRBA), and Program for Alcohol Abusing Adolescent using Combined Therapy & Exercise (PACTE). He also has received advanced training from the Florida Psychoanalytic Center (FPC). In addition to providing traditional psychotherapy and psychological testing, Dr. Alcalay is an E.M.D.R. (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing) therapist which is used in the treatment of PTSD. Additionally, Dr. Alcalay utilizes child-centered Play therapy for early behavioral issues & improving self-esteem. He is also a Qualified Supervisor.
