I started working with people suffering from anxiety disorders, but have branched into ADHD, eating disorders, cutting, and relationship counseling.
We all struggle with changes, but it takes a courageous person to admit that they need help. When families or individuals seek help from my practice, the clinicians are eager in taking a hands on approach and create methods in overcoming the problems. We realize that it is best for our clients to leave the office after each appointment with a gameplan and knowing that they have a partner in defeating the problems that have led them to our office.

I love my work. I have really enjoyed getting to know my clients over the past 35 years. Although I consult with adults, adolescents & children, I also see many couples and families. My clients are never the problem, they have problems and need solutions and strategies to get "unstuck" or make changes in their lives. I have also found personal, business and career coaching helpful to many clients. I am the owner of a large practice with psychologists, psychiatrists & counselors. If my hours or approach does not fit your needs I will find someone who can assist you.

I feel comfortable working with individuals, couples and families.
By creating a safe environment in which to explore emotions and inner patterns, we identify roadblocks which are interfering with the goals that the individual or family want to achieve. We use our meetings to gain understanding, create new ideas and support putting changes into practice.

I work with individuals, families, and couples facing a wide range of difficulties, including: life transitions, relationship conflicts, stress, anxiety, depression, and grief.
I am a licensed psychologist with more than 20 years of experience. I integrate multiple perspectives into your treatment so that I can tailor your experience to your specific needs and help you reach your goals. I believe therapy is a process that begins by establishing a compassionate, supportive, and collaborative treatment relationship. From here, we can gain an understanding of the factors (both past and present) which contribute to the current difficulties/obstacles in your life. We will then explore options for your growth and development.

Couples Counseling Therapists

Does couples counseling work?

Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.

When should a couple seek counseling?

Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.

How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?

The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.

How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?

The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
