As a NY State licensed Psychologist I provide psychotherapy to adults, couples, and families. As a practitioner for over 25 years my work is psychodynamic in nature whereby I strive to understand why one has come into therapy; why they are looking for help and ways to alleviate their distress and provide relief going forward. This can be difficult so my nonjudgmental focus is on exploring, understanding, and empathizing with each unique situation and accompanying f.eelings. I work within the theoretical framework of Object Relations exploring relationships with support and empathy allowing relief and change to emerge.
Calling a psychotherapist is the first big step and once there, just talking about your situation helps bring some relief. Developing a good relationship is key and support and empathy are readily available to help clients feel safe enough to dive in and understand the difficulties that interfere with relationships and general life functioning.
Curiosity, listening, and understanding allow clients to reach out and ask for what they need. Discussion is nonjudgemental and confidential so conflicts areas are explored together in the safety of my office.
