I'm Chad Mohammad, LISW, seeing teens and adults in Cedar Falls and by telehealth across Iowa. Queer and trans clients are the heart of my practice, alongside ADHD, autism, trauma, identity, and burnout. My favorite first sessions are people who almost gave up on therapy but are giving it one last shot. I write gender-affirming letters in the first session at no cost.
I am a former labor organizer who came to therapy through community work. MSW from USC in 2021, LISW in Iowa, and I've run my own practice in Cedar Falls since 2023. My approach is conversational and direct. I work from liberation psychology, harm reduction, polyvagal-informed assessment, and narrative identity work.
I prefer people to be their real selves. We are messy, contradictory, deeply beautiful beings that are supposed to be experiencing life as we dreamt ourselves doing. That is where you and I are going. To the 'imagine if we won'. We have to create the future in our minds so that we can cast the spells and bend reality to something strange and wonderful.
